Who makes a 30" shortscale flatwound low B?

Thread revival. Sure, I can mess around with crimp connectors or a screw-on lug, but I'd much rather get strings that fit.

I have a message in to Bass Strings Online, and will report back on what I find out...

About to reply to your message but I am hesitant to sell the La Bella Short Scale Flatwounds for Mikro's as they do not seem to be working with it. The Mikro is a "Sub Short Scale" instrument (less than 30" scale). The La Bella Flatwounds I had made up are for instruments that can accept a 32" long string (ball to silk). Seems like the tuning post for the Mikro is within the 32" mark, am I wrong?

But if you want Rounds that is another story...

It's a 28.6" scale, according to Ibanez, and the B-string saddle has to be adjusted back very close to the backplate when it's properly intonated.

I don't have a Mikro at hand to measure, but based on measurements taken from product photography, it's probably just a hair over 31" from ball end to the B-string tuner.

Would that work with a 32" La Bella nickel round 0.128" B-string, or would the thickest part of the string be wrapping around the post?

A standard short scale string will be too long for the mikro.

The rounds may go around the tuning post better than the flat, but they flat may actually break.

Sounds like the mikro needs a 30.5" winding length string. I would need the measuments ball end to nut as well to know for sure.

The good news is I can get them made. The bad news is it may take a bit.

That's from the back of the ball end

The tapered part of the B string ( if you want the full string winding on the saddle) needs to be pushed back by at least 1 1/2 to 2 inches depending where your saddle is. My B saddle is all the way back and more (had to file it down some to be able to intonate the string). The string almost wraps around the tuner but doesn't....

To be honest, all this discussion is negatively impacting any thought on my part about picking up one of these five-string Mikros. Did Ibanez really put a bass out on the market without any provision for replacing the strings on it? Not even from whoever it is that supplies the strings that come with it? What're you supposed to do with a Mikro GSRM25, hang it on the wall and look at it?

I am working with a manufacturer to make Short Scale 5 string Sets in Round Wound so I can have them readily available...

Flats I have La Bella's... But the last customer of mine to put them on a Mikro said the instrument was 31" Ball to Tuning Post which is too short for the La Bella flats I had made... So not sure if there are differences in the instrument or what?

This 31" ball to Tuning post is wrong...whoever gave you that meas. made a mistake....I doubt my Mikro 5 string is different from theirs....the meas. I gave you yesterday are exact but I can take them again.....

The LaBella Flats fit.....it's just the B string that was hard to intonate but with a bit of work it works, it's just floppy....but if the strings were a bit shorter it would be better.
