Who makes a 30" shortscale flatwound low B?

I also posted this in the Official Mikro Bass Club thread, but since it's relevant here as well:

Just for the record, Ibanez never got back to me on my query about replacement string sets for the Mikro GSRM25 fiver. Which I take as meaning that they don't have an answer about it.

I'm doing some work on a short scale Gretsch 2224.

Want to string it BEAD with flats. Want the lightest strings possible.

Measurements are:

Bridge to E post 34 1/4"
Bridge to A post 36 5/8"
Bridge to D post 36 5/8"
Bridge to G post 34 1/4"
To nut 31 1/4"

Not concerned with brand as much as light gauge and proper fit.

For what instrument?

The only Flatwound string I know of right now that is shorter than Long Scale is the 32" Short Scale La Bella Flats I had made up.

BEAD can happen in those.

Sorry, I meant for the Gretsch 2224, 30 1/3".

The LaBellas will be fine. I have a set I bought for the 5 string I'm redoing if winter ever leaves and I can finish painting it. A set of four BEAD would be great. Think I'll restring the Gretsch today and get the others for when I string the 5er.

Really? Those Labella's are 32"? Maybe that's why the B is so floppy!!! Because the original B string was not floppy and it was a 30" shortscale string......I thought those Labellas were actual short scale strings...i.e. 30" not 32's.....I guess that answers my questions about the string being a bit too long and floppy for the Mikro 5 string bass.....

Short scale strings have a 32" winding length from ball to silk. If it were 30" the string would not clear the nut.

When I refer to 32" it is the winding length. The mikro has a shorter scale length even. Luckily a standard short scale string with 32" winding is the correct length for a proper fit.

Short scale hofner basses for example require strings with a 34" winding which are actually medium scale strings.

The scale length and tension is determined by the vibrating length of the string which is the area between the nut and saddle. Anything before and after has no influence on string tension. (Although some makers claim more distance between the nut and tuning post on the b string improves tension... But that is a subject for another discussion)

To my surprise I have just found out that DR has a Hi-Beam "Short Scale" set. Please keep in mind that DR Short Scale is 33.75" from the Front of the ball end to the taper so they are a little long for many "Short Scales" but it is a new option for Round users!

Sounds like these might be good for 32"......hmmmmmmm. how interesting....LMAO
