Who owns a Guild B50 or B30!?!?

I have a 25th anniversary Eden Navigator pre from 1996 in pristine condition. Handwired by the man hisself before they went mass production. Been racked it's entire life. Also a crown 402 power amp, korg dtr-100 tuner, and odyseey power conditioner all in a nice SKB rack that I have put up for trade to get one of these beauties. So please post pics, reviews, or experiences with them. I need to know as much as possible:)

Had one and stupidly got rid of it after the acoustic gig stopped. I forgot how much fun it was to just get it out and play at home. No amp required.

cb56 cool bass man. The short scale is hardly noticable, huh? I think that's why these puppies sound so good, apart from the oversize body. panic_stricken I've got a sunburst one for you to look at:

Looks like Wave Rider found my old review from way back when on the BGRA!

I've got a Guild B30. Bought it new back in the mid to late 80's and had a Fishman pickup installed under the bridge. I love it :D, but feedback is a problem at loud volumes :bawl:. I'm going to try a Lute Hole hole cover and see if that helps.

I owned one. What would you like to know?

I sold it because I preferred a long scale and knew a solid top would do more for me.

Beautifully made. Case is great! When shopping I chose it over a new Earthwood. The Earthwood probably had to break in but it sounded like a wooden box. The B 30 almost had blues tone built in. The littlest Martin projects better and ups the ante for quality construction.

I’m not fond of plugging ABGs in. Too much fooling around with stage issues.
If they sing acoustically that’s why I play them.
There are other instruments that di a great job providing the wood and can do the plugged in thing.

To each his own on this as one may be perfect for someone and not someone else.

I have a rare first year 76' B-50SB (tobacco-burst) and matching F-50SB from the same year. They say the first year of production is 75' but that was only the prototype at Namm. After all these years I've NEVER seen a 75' (and I've kept looking) so I'm 98% sure 76' is the first year.

Mine has no pickup and the tone and volume is amazing. I've used it live a couple of times with a Bill Lawrence soundhole pickup through my Mark Bass rig and it sounds divine. Tape wounds really give it a tone to die for, in the realm of an upright. My mate used it on the weekend in our jam with a 6 string jumbo and 12 string dreadnought and it holds up on its own (and we were outdoors in a park). He is now desperate to get one.

They are simply the best, nothing I've played over the years comes remotely close. My F-50 is also sensational. They don't call em SJ200 killers for nothing. Westerly made Guilds are the bomb.
Here's my babies. Enjoy

FWIW, we've come to the same conclusion:
Acoustic bass fetish club Part 2
The B50 appears on the November '76 Guild pricelist and no earlier.
