Who owns a Guild B50 or B30!?!?

I have a rare first year 76' B-50SB (tobacco-burst) and matching F-50SB from the same year. They say the first year of production is 75' but that was only the prototype at Namm. After all these years I've NEVER seen a 75' (and I've kept looking) so I'm 98% sure 76' is the first year.

Mine has no pickup and the tone and volume is amazing. I've used it live a couple of times with a Bill Lawrence soundhole pickup through my Mark Bass rig and it sounds divine. Tape wounds really give it a tone to die for, in the realm of an upright. My mate used it on the weekend in our jam with a 6 string jumbo and 12 string dreadnought and it holds up on its own (and we were outdoors in a park). He is now desperate to get one.

They are simply the best, nothing I've played over the years comes remotely close. My F-50 is also sensational. They don't call em SJ200 killers for nothing. Westerly made Guilds are the bomb.
Here's my babies. Enjoy View attachment 4774622

WHOOAA!! never seen any other than a natural finish. thats pretty sweet.
I dunno if you can see on my profile pic or not, but YES I use tapewounds on my B-50 fretless and its a dream.

Welcome to TalkBass @Loride,
Cute kids by the way.
So what genre do you use them for?....057912

Thank you. There is some cool info here.

My band (Aurora) has a kind of classic/hard rock vibe I guess. We actually just realised our second album yesterday. They are both on Spotify etc. Feel free to have a listen. It's called Future Dreams, Future Nightmares. (The 1st one is Sister of the Sun)

With the band I only use the B50 when we do the odd acoustic gig. And when we play at the radio stations.
But I am a bass (and guitar) tutor so I use the old girl all the time to teach. I also regularly have acoustic jams with some mates. Mainly covers but we are working on originals too. Both get a workout in that group.

Are you in a band?
