I took this in a trade couple years ago,thought it was unique myselt,and it plays great!I give up.

It was made by the humbucker guy that day. Hum cancelling wood.They do that because it improves the tone. See you take a nice piece of figured wood and mate it with a piece of bland-looking tone wood. You end up with a unique bass that sounds 1/2 as good.
Your bass appears to be a Ray24 as it has the nicer old school bridge and no contours on the body. It also has a real rosewood fretboard as opposed to a substitute.I took this in a trade couple years ago,thought it was unique myselt,and it plays great!
Yes you are correct it plays great it caught my attention with the flame maple part on the upper part of the bass. I use it in my bass rotation of my other three basses.
