Who uses a combo + extension?

No vote here. Tried a combo with extension. SWR WM 12 with SWR pro 12 cabinet. 8 ohms as required. It got so hot i thought it was going to catch on fire! Now I use a tc electronics 250 head with same cab, plus a SWR WM 15 cab when I need a little more

Not sure if this counts, but the Quilter rig in my profile pic is a Bass Block 800 using the mount on their Bassliner 210C cab stacked on another Bassliner 210C. I used to bring the head separately when I did the vertical stack but once I mounted it, I preferred the easier set up.

The one on the right is a Mesa Walkabout Scout combo (15") with matching cab. The combo is great. The stack is ridiculously good. (Sorry, I was taking the pic for the grill of the Ampeg the other day so the Mesa got chopped off.)View attachment 3477149

Have an MB 212 v2 that should be delivered here Monday next.
Doesn't appear that I will NEED an extension cab- especially since I am only practicing, recording and jamming but just in case;
Have a Mesa 18" in road case that will need a simple power amp and we are in BIG business.

Always good to have a backup but for real, I can't imagine needing more volume than this unless you are under-PAing.

If I recall, somewhere in the low-mid 50s range? Maybe 53 or 54 pounds.

The cab is in the 40s I think.

We're talking 15" though.

I use the extension as a stand when I only need the combo. Ratchet straps makes it a 37# one-hand carry.

I have a Trace Elliot 1210 combo (2 X 10) and wanted to add a 1 X 15 extension can for a long time... but never did.

Now I use this beast. I get to have my 4 X 10 and my 1 X 15 and eat it, too.

For bigger venues, a Bag End D10B-D (no tweeter) adds just what’s needed to my trusty old SWR Super Redhead… a fan in the single rack space pushes cool air through the head for the 2-ohm load, and a Sansamp BDDI adds character.

I used to use my Walkabout 12 with several extension cabs. First it was the Scout 12, then I used the WA with a Scout 15. I also ran the Walkabout 12 combo with a Accugroove Tri112 at one point
I love the Walkabout amp, but eventually recognized that the Walkabout cabs did not get the most out of the amp and I have since sold off the extension cabs, but I did keep the original Walkabout 1x12 cab and do occasionally use it in a rehearsal space.

These days, when I take the Walkabout on a gig, i just use the amp and it drives a Berg CN212. Great combination!

To not start a new thread. I have the Ashdown EVO-120. It had an out for adding a cabinet. Is it worth it? Will the 120 watt combo head be able to give me more sound with another cabinet added? Thanks
