Who uses a pick

I have always used a pick for the tone. Actually, FOH, you really can't tell you're playing with pick unless the treble is up too high. I heard many a rig that was loud but had dirty tone and the bass player always seemed to be using his digits. I was also more comfortable with a pick because I started on guitar.

That said, I've been working on the digits as well. I've found I can play with the edge of my index finger nail to mimic a pick sound and action.

To me, it only matters how it sounds FOH so either pick or fingers, whatever sounds best for the band and the music.

I've primarily used a pick for the past 11 years.

I am trying to change this. A pick, for me, just came easier. I felt like when i used my fingers i had bad form or something.

I am trying to do more finger work as well as learning tapping, but i am VERY self-critical. This is a bad combo when you are 100% self taught.

If anyone knows of any good(cheap) instructional videos for correct finger form or tapping i would greatly appriciate it! :D

Well personally I always liked playing with my fingers but will use a pick from time to time. Depends on the song. If I'm playing older Metallica, I'll use my fingers. If I'm playing Megadeth, I immediately grab my picks. However, I know I can play most of these things with either one, so now it solely depends on the tone I'm looking for. Or for originals, it just depends on what the song needs tone-wise

oh GOD, not another one of these threads again !!!!

pick=loser!!!
:rollno::rollno::rollno:

and I suppose you have 50 youtube videos to show us your excellent fingerskills compared to anyone else who uses a pick playing the same songs?

in fact to make it interesting, if you even DO have a youtube video with you using your fingers it don't matter what song, I'll re-do your video and use a pick.

I use a pick, I use my fingers, AND I just laugh at comments like that.

are you that terribly lame that you rip on pickusers because you can't?

please explain why a pickuser is a loser????.....

I use a pick, finger, thumb, or whatever to hit the strings ... If you play in a cover band then some songs need to be picked to be played properly. I can play faster and cleaner with a pick but sometimes fingerstyle yeilds a better tone.
