WHOA...Digitech The Drop

Acoustic guitar demo, which...seems weird to me, because you'd still be hearing the acoustic part unless your levels were actually. But it sounds pretty good in terms of tone retention.

SMH at the one that went for $130 in the classifieds last night that I didn't see until this morning!

I was the benefactor of that impulse buy... well, until my wife sees that I spent more money after I just stocked up my pedal building bench this week. It was too good to pass up though.

If she threatens divorce, I'll let you know before I throw it back up in the classifieds... ha ha.

Ha, good to know.

Hi all,

A question for DigiTechRep. Is the Drop pedal similar to the module that is found on the Whammy DT pedal ?

Another question. I read somewhere that the algorithm for bass effects is quite different from what it is for a regular 6-strings. Does it imply that the Drop pedal algorithm is optimised for guitar rather than bass. Should we expect a Bass version of the Drop pedal ?

Best regards

Earlier in the thread he described it as (I'm paraphrasing) the Whammy V at the core with Bass Whammy related tweaks. But I'd love for him to expound upon that.

Link?

IMO, while you'd think latency would be a pretty objective thing, most people report on it in a subjective sort of way. You'll see the same thing with reviews of the Morpheus. The Morpheus claims zero latency, but reviews are mixed. Personally, I don't notice any latency on the Morpheus, and I presume/hope that Digitech has done similarly well on that front.

Its on the sweetwater.com site- 3 reviews of it so far. I believe it does say it is minimal.

I think there is bound to be some latency on digital effects and especially pitch shifters.
Whether or not it's noticeable is the real question.

That's what I was going to say. I sometimes wonder if people imagine this latency, as with the Morpheus---I don't notice anything on guitar. Others may be more sensitive to it than I am, I'm not saying it doesn't exist or that others couldn't possibly notice it. But if even the most critical reviews are using words like "minimal," "negligible," or "not noticeable," then I think I can live with it.

This mantra applies to just about every tone question ever. Of course there is a difference in the electrical current every time you add a circuit and cable to your rig. How noticeable it is depends on the ears of the player and the quality of the gear. I use almost all digital pedals anymore. I hear the difference between bass>cable>amp vs bass>board>amp. The clean tone is better for the first, but the limitations it presents endorses my love for my board.

There is definite latency. About what you get when you walk ~15-20 feet away from your amp. I only want it for -1/2 step and it seems to do that well. It's a little thinner than the straight tone. Wish it had a little bit of a bass boost to counteract that.

But the tubas will be extremely happy that they can play in Eb instead of E or F instead of F#.
