I so dig that '63. Honest to goodness mojo!

Played 3 sets last night, one with the '63, one with my RBIV and the last with the '63 again. As good as the RBIV is, it doesn't hold a candle to the '63.

And why wouldn't you be? Love it, what year is it? Looks like Artic White over Black or Sunburst.

No two ways about it the Fender factory had some weird procedures when it came to painting.

"We're out of white!" "Aw just overspray a 'burst"

Don't think that would happen today, except for a custom shop relic that is.

Now the real question: who has had a bass the longest. I have a 74 jazz that I bought in 75 ( but I "sold" it to a friend for 2 years, then traded to get it back) that I still have but I have a Degas Pbass copy that I have had since 1972.

you need to stipulate no DB's also... last time this was done suddenly people with 1700's DBs showed up...

yeah, I was just gonna say, go over to the DB side and you'll find people with 400 year old instruments.

I agree! Ez's '63 kills me. An old oly white would be perfect, and I was born in '63.

Your 57 interests me.
Was 57 a transition year for the Precision?
Is that why it's the older pick up /pick guard style rather than the Precision we all know?
Fenders' reissue 57 is the newer style.

Yes. The single coil version was produced well into '57. Sting's personal single coil is dated April of '57 and has a body of alder.
