I had the same problem, I actually closed my eyes instead of looking at the screen, still can't get more than 842.

Tried a half dozen times. 859 was my best. Less than 800 once.

Closing my eyes and using a letter key rather than the space bar on my computer seemed to have resulted in slightly improved scores.

The best I could muster so far was 893 using the Enter key, one finger. I tried alternating the M and Z keys using my two index fingers but one was too late and the too late.

I never get right on but usually pretty close.

Now I'm trying to hit right on the one, behind on 2&3, and slightly ahead on 4. Kills the score, but way more challenging.

I know my playing is in the pocket so I am not sure how much this matters.

I think it discerns the difference between playing on time with a drummer versus setting the tempo and maintaining it without drum assistance.
