Who's never owned a Fender bass?

A friend of mine tried to gift me a late 70s P Bass a couple years ago because he wasn't primarily a bass player and thought I'd get more use from it, but I politely declined. I don't think I'll ever own a Fender bass...

I bought a Squier Vintage Modified 5 string a few years back and love it. I'd really considered one of the american elite Jazz 5s, but I really decided if I was gonna spend that much on a bass I couldnt compromise on not getting a 6 string, and just got an Atelier Z instead.

I do own a Fender Mexi Strat, that i bought about 6 months ago though, so i guess that counts?

I love my Ps and Js. The Fender logo is quite alluring too. Are there better basses for less money? Sure, but owning and playing a Fender bass is just a state of mind that can't be easily replicated with another brand. YMMV

I've had a '77 P for about 20 years, a '76 Jazz for 15, and an RBV for 2. These are among an embarassingly large collection, so I'm no fanboy, but Fenders have their place.

I started in upright bass in 1964, and got into electric bass in 1967 with a 1963 Precision my parents bought me. I still have it.

I've owned maybe 50 basses in my lifetime, have never owned a Fender. Just have never found a good one. Closest I have is a Roscoe Classic which is basically Roscoe's take on a Jazz.

I can't recall ever owning a Fender bass. I have owned a Squires. I do own Fender guitars.

Do you consider a Squier to be a low end Fender or a separate brand? I've owned 2 Squier basses but never made the climb up the price ladder.

I'd say Squier is lower end Fender. I own several of both. Difference is insignificant once I get through with them. Squier VMs and CVs can play like the best of them.

I've had a bass with a Fender neck, I've had a Fender pickup in a different bass, and I've owned a couple Fender guitars, but never owned a Fender bass.

The recent post about brands that you've not held or played made me realize that I've not owned a Fender bass which is a bit surprising as they are so common and I would think most players do or would have. Ive played a small amount but not that many actually. This isnt hating on Fender btw.

So, who has not owned a Fender bass?

I never have, but I have a Wal, so I can't possibly see a reason to.

No and don't plan to because I don't care for their looks (Fender and Squier). I love the appearance of PRS and Yamaha basses and guitars and play them primarily. I've owned a strat for decades and haven't touched it in ages. Same reason.

Now Fender amps, they're different. I love them.
