Maybe you guys can help me. For one of my subjects at Uni we have to choose a single transcription to really focus on throughout the semester. The criteria is (if it's a single-line solo/melody) it's gotta be between 3-5 minutes long.
Now I'm struggling a bit cause most of the stuff I want to transcribe is out of the range of 4-string (which is what I play), by that I mean I would need a high C to get the high stuff. I know I can just pop it down the octave, but the point is to follow the solo precisely so switching octaves in a particular place might sound a bit awkward.
Does anyone have any particular ideas? I'd love to hear some. I'm going to see my lecturer to see if Miles solo on Straight No Chaser is too easy. I started that a long time ago and would love to finish it and really dig into it.
I'm working on transcribing Michael Brecker's solo on Impressions with the McCoy Tyner Trio. It's tough...
Currently transcribing...
Ronnie Cuber's sax solo from Moanin' (Mingus Big Band)
Guys, who can identify these two piano chords (actually voicings) in this Richard bona track
You can hear them at 1:55-1:56
It sounds like the movement goes from a diminished to a seventh chords (with some extensions) but not sure?!? I would like to be able to built some spicy fills with different scales that match that tiny progression in the general context of a I-IV-V. I really need to work my transcribing skills, wioou.
hey guys.. since i havent done it yet, i want to get more into pino palladinos bass playing.. what are some good tracks to listen to and transcibe?
