Spending more time thinking on this, it is a good point to consider as a creator that ‘trust’ can be a huge deal. It’s not immediately something you consciously consider when watching videos, but when it’s violated you know it.
I know a certain channel I used to watch all the time. And one day he decided to ask for donations, and explain how he doesn’t do a demo unless he is paid, and it just turned me way off for his content from then on. This was pre Patreon and go fund me days, which are things I don’t necessarily like anyway, so it came off as harsh and snobby.
I do get it, and don’t blame him for it, but now when I think about it, it was that trust of thinking he was trying to show off good gear, but really he was putting himself up for sale to whoever had the money. This type of demo channel I just tend to ignore and find something more meaningful.
