Why 6ohms?

Hi, so I was looking at the Demeter BSC-300 cab

My question is - why 6 ohms? On the one hand it wouldn't let the paired Demeter 400d head to use all its power (4ohms) and on the other hand, doesn't it prevent from adding other cabs to a 4ohms capable amp? What am I missing here?

Don't sweat it. The difference in volume resulting from the 2-ohm difference will be indiscernable to your ear.

interesting to read anything about the Demeter cab(s). I have been using a VTBP-M-800DJ as my primary gigging amp (mostly into a Berg CN212) for the past year or so (very happy). When I first got the amp I was checking the Demeter website for some amp info and saw the cab.

Anyone have any insight on how the cabs sound ? either with the Demeter heads or with others ?
I also have seen/read about a Demeter all-in-one combo with one of James's hybrid heads loaded inside a "flip-top" style cabinet. Have not seen or heard one in person though .. how about any of you on TB ?

That's what happens when you deal with threes. If I am not mistaken, there are 610 cabs that are really 6 ohms and are labeled 4 ohms because there is not much of a difference except for the ohms of the individual speakers.

When I owned an SWR Goliath Senior I remember replacing a damaged speaker and it was 8 ohms, which would make it 6 ohms wired series/parallel. For it to be 4 ohms each speaker would have to be 6 ohms.

I could be wrong, technical guys let me know if I am.

I’ve got an Epifani 310 and a second on the way. Both labeled as 5.3ohm. I’ve learend to just look at the cab like its 4ohm. The paired cabs would be 2.6 I believe so they can still be looked at like two 4ohms making a 2ohm load.

I too was just looking at this cab. Was wondering how the Demeter would differ sonically from the epifani’s.
