Why are there no Fender Precision 5 strings?

I've got a line on one of these, and was wondering how close it nails a Pbass tone?

Anyone?

I've got a CRB 5 and a Fender P5. Yes to my ear the CRB sounds like a P-bass and is a really nice instrument for the price point too. Tonally it's a little more middy than my Fender but the strings affect that quite a bit; Fender is strung with TI flats, the CRB with DR SS Lo-Riders. Ed Friedland's video probably tells you all you need to know. The CRB is a good bass and would work for what you're looking for IMO.

The Squier P5 is a pretty substantial bass,although the earlier ones had 4-pole J-pickups instead of 5-pole.Nice wide neck too.Here's mine.

Before buying my Precision V, I checked these out. Very weighty and solid but not in a good way. The ones I tried had no resonance or vibe. It was all there but lacked anything that made me go hmmmm.
YMMV.

It was worth the extra dough for the real thing, I don't regret it.

IMO, doing away with the US Precision Deluxe (4 or 5 string) with the humbucker in the bridge was a really poor decision. Those were among the best sounding, most versatile basses that I've ever played. As I understand, you can only get a MIA Deluxe in a 4 string and there's a standard J pickup in the bridge, no humbucker. BOO!
