sillyfabe isn't wrong. There may be examples of music that doesn't have any bass in it; however, The White Stripes is a bad example. Jack White plays the keyboard. Also, there's no reason to believe that in he doesn't also lay down bass tracks in the studio. In the studio he might use a keyboard or an electric bass. In any case, you can clearly hear that they DO have bass register music in their Invalid Link Removed.
TBH, bass has the most important role in a band because it is fundamentally required to glue together melody/harmony and rhythm.
Meh. Mediocrity. They need a third bass player or a didgeridoo.

No offense, but I do believe the music of the white stripes is fundamentally incomplete. Imagine what it would have been with a decent drummer, and slightly more than what Jack White could do on his own...
Not saying it had to be a bass guitar - in my opinion bass is just another brick in the wall.
Pig Destroyer, another band without bass and awesome (in my humblest of opinions), although only in the sense that there is no bass guitar, plenty of low frequencies, or it would sound incomplete.
as a metal fan id say because guitar sounds ok without distortion and good with.

Their name is MARIA which makes them pretty difficult to search for. I did link to a couple of their videos earlier in the thread, though, and here's one more.
Heh. Most of the time either they play one octave apart, or Maiko might not be playing at all while she sings lead.
Yes. Yes, you can. I utterly despise J-pop. I find the fact that it's mostly so saccharin it rots your teeth and makes you gain twelve pounds just by listening to it, kinda jarring and disturbing.
also, I don't really hear the added value of their two bassists.
Haha, that's why I like this band so much. They have two bassists, but don't sound weird or busy or bassy. Hell, five of them sing, plus they have two guitars and keys/violin and it never sounds too busy.
Doc couldve solved time travel without a flux capacitor and a delorean if they just tried this first.
Thank you!! Those are the responses I was expecting. Another reason that the bass is the best instrument, besides Frozen plays one is Girls look sexier holding them.
