Ok, inspired by the first influences and concerts thread...

what is one show/group/performance that you attended that now you can't beleive you did? Or, what is one tha tyou wish you would have attended, but didn't?

My "shame show" was Milli Vanilli on the famous Lip Synch tour. My GF at the time loved them and got tix for us without telling me. The combination of me being young and the threat of no more boobies pushed me into going....ah, the stupidity of youth

My 'should have gone' show was The Police Synchronicity Tour. I turned down 3rd row seats from my friends dad because "they are not metal"....ah, the stupidity of youth

I have never gone to a show that I regretted... I don't like to go downtown much so when I do, it's something I'm excited for.

My biggest missed concert regret was Dethklok/Mastodon/High on Fire. They were all respectively touring my favorite albums and I consider them my biggest influences. I can't believe I didn't go.

Britney Spears.....Years back (Before she became a train wreck) I decided to take my 2 daughters to her concert. The week prior to her "lip sync" show, she cancelled and rescheduled.....to Fathers Day. So got to spend fathers day watching her lip sync. :(

I went to see Leon Russell twice because my ex REALLY liked him. He was okay, but I dislike his singing.
I went to see Zappa, and Hall and Oates opened. Zappa was jaw-dropping. Hall and Oates were just as you might expect, big hair and not my cup of tea. But who knows, you might have enjoyed them.

One of the few concerts I left early was, sadly, Dan Fogelberg. The acoustics made his band sound ordinary, and the audience was full of fraternity and sorority folks who were distracting and disrespectful.

Went to see Cheap Trick here...several years ago now, but still a couple decades after their hayday. Biggest waste of time ever. We were walking down 6th street after the show and heard a cover band doing I Want You To Want Me about 100 times better than they could do their own song.

Other waste of time like that was Molly Hatchet circa '96-'97 or so.

The rest of the shows I've seen...some better than others....many with crap sound jobs but it wasn't the bands fault, but those two stick out for suckery.

Pleasant surprises have been Crosby Pills Hash & Young and 3 Doors Down (yes, them...live).

If you want to see what live music is supposed to be, go see The Cult, or Junior Brown, or anything Willie Nelson is involved in.

I can't think of any "shame shows", so I'll use my wife's experience. She saw Nelson during their brief stay on the charts. She told me about a poster she had of them where one of the guys' nipples is showing -- ooo, risqué!

Ha! I was not so stupid. Saw 'em twice on that tour as well as the Ghost In The Machine tour. The Police were one of the best live bands I've ever seen. Actually lost my shoe at their Day On The Green show. Ah... the good ol' days.

This was an incredible show in 1978 on the Hemispheres tour. I had never heard of Judas Priest at the time and they did a great show as the opener.

When I was ten my mom got some free concert tickets from a friend, so she took me. It was Debbie Gibson. Even at ten years old I was embarrassed to be there.

When I was 13 I was in a police oriented Explorer Scout group, and we went to a national conference in Denver. I was on the shooting team and tactical entry team. They had a big concert at the end of the week, the performers weren't announced until the day before. Attendance was mandatory.

It was New Kids On the Block.

I'm fortunate enough to get a lot of comp'd tickets to concerts and events, so I've seen lots of bands that I wouldn't have otherwise. One show that comes to mind was Jimmy Eat World about 2 years ago. I had nothing better to do that day and it was free, so I went. I was pleasantly surprised at the solid show they put on, and I had to admit I found myself singing along to about 11 out of the 12 or so songs they played! I also saw Delta Spirit play that same day, never heard of them before and went home with a CD and a shirt, lol!

Well, I was young and living in a remote area, and the first concert I saw was Meco and The Commodores. My father took me and hated the whole deal so much he never took me to another concert, so as a youngster I walked and later drove myself to see a lot of great shows (Andre Segovia, Night Ranger, Jean Luc Ponty

Concert I missed was in the late 80s. A girl who had been stringing me along for a bit pissed me off so I ignored her calls one week. When I next saw her she told me she had tickets to Rush and a hotel room lined up for us so she ended up taking a girlfriend. DOH! Never hooked up with her again out of my own incredible stupidity. I haven't gotten any smarter either. Hindsight is a harsh mistress.

yikes...you missed Rush and possible boobies! Hopefully you made up for it...

I don't regret seeing any show I have seen, but the worst was Three Days Grace, and the only reason I didn't regret it, is because it was free. It was a recent show with their new singer, all the vocals were tracked, with the old singers voice. When the new guy happened to put his mouth close enough to the mic to actually come through the PA he sounded completely different than what was in the track. Not to mention, that I saw them on a rock n roll cruise, and were total jerks. The rest of the bands were great, and were cool people.

I regret not going to Pantera on one of their last tours. I was kind of broke and figured I could catch them next time, then they broke up and Dime was killed, so I missed my chance.

The show I am most grateful to get to attend was Jimmy Page/Robert Plant in 1996
