why did you have children?

fair question...

heres a few thoughts

was it because you were pressured?

was it because you thought it was the right thing to do by your wife?

was it because you were lonely?

was it because you didnt know what you were getting into?

Maybe your a school teacher and just love kids?

Ummm...because I knew I wanted Children and wanted to be a Father?

Why do your first four options have such negative connotations?
How's about options like...

Because my Wife and I decided TOGETHER?

I don't get the pressure thing, or the do right by your Wife thing... the "loneliness" thing just cracks me up to think about. Do you think you have to be a teacher to love kids?

Becauswe I was lucky enough to marry a wonderful woman with two beautiful daughters who have accepted me unconditionally and who asked me to be a parent to them.

Having kids has so far been the most rewarding thing I have ever done.

Why did the first two people to reply in the thread become immediately defensive?

It's not so much moody or defensive as there were no directly *positive* options listed...and I found that really odd, and that they pointed to less than joyous scenarios, and as a result I found kind of absurd. He asked, I answered. I could ask why my answer prompted such strong reaction when it was an honest one.

Gosh people are moody I for one wanted to hear peoples reasons but of course it cant be that simple.

My apologies to you for being so moody. Here is an answer for you to ponder...

It felt right to pass along the gifts given to me to another couple human beings. I happened across a woman with two pre-made children, so I chose that option to avoid the diaper changing and up all night segment of being a father.

When I met my wife she already had a son. I adopted him so I could be his real father and there never would be any question. I have never regretted that decision. Now I am doubly blessed with a grandson that I am very close to.
We also knew two boys that were taken from their home by the state (its a long story). We knew some people so we pulled some strings and moved them into our home as foster children. After a year and a half we were ready to adopt them but they were re-united with there father. That was good thing because the best place for children is with their parents. We are still close with them. They are now men and one has a daughter of his own.

My dad did the same with me and it was an awesome thing to do. Awesome that you manned up and became a dad of someone else's son....which is actually your son. Internet high five!!!

That to is probably what option id rather have, not wanting to deal with the baby aspect-also I am pretty much against wanting to pass my DNA on, I just dont like the sounds of that.

Why did you decide to become a bass player?

Was it because your friends already played guitar and so your first choice wasn't available?

Or because you lack coordination and musical ability so you wanted an instrument that was easy to play?

Perhaps you were poor and a relative had a bass so you didn't have to buy a real instrument.

Was it because you were shy or lacked energy and wanted to blend in at the back if the stage?

Or we're you a tuba player in school and learned to love low notes?

Hahaha...true too.

I'm the last male in my family line. When I'm gone, that's all. Some are probably glad, I have mixed emotions.
