Why do I need a 75th Anniversary Fender Precision Bass

I’ve got 4 P basses already—including what I consider the perfect P for me—and I’m actually trying to downsize. And I don’t bond with gold hardware.

And yet, that is a gorgeous tribute to my favorite bass. Wowee.

My attraction to it reminds me of the last axe I bought out of visual infatuation: the Custom Shop Artisan Series Okoume Telecaster. Yeah, it looked lovely on my wall for several months, and then I sold it virtually unplayed.

Yeah, I think it's commemorating the company's 75th anniversary, not necessarily that of the P-bass. That threw me for a loop, too, at first.

Seriously, just buy it - it's only money, and if it turns up and you don't like it, you can flip it. If you then find yourself poor, just sell one of your other ones to cover part of the cost.

...or maybe you just like this bass and have the money to buy one. No need to 'need' it. Sometimes 'wanting' is enough.

I don't need one since I have my DIY version of a P style bass with gold hardware assembled using forgotten spare parts I re-discovered during a shop cleanup...

The only thing worse than gold hardware is aged gold hardware.

Aged hardware with gold plating over zinc trumps even that.

Wedding rings are gold, some high quality electrical connectors are too. There is no other reason for gold to exist, especially on basses.
