Why do people dislike you?

I don't know if I'd call it dislike (that's pretty harsh) but at the same time I really don't know what I'd call it. It seems like I have friends (and am well greeted) as long as I make the phone calls and as long as I'm the one who rings thier doorbell. Even at church where I play it seems like everyone is in such a huge hurry and won't seek me out to talk to me.

I don't hate anybody and while I consider myself easy to get along with....lately I've really had it with most people I encounter for a lot of reasons.

I'm small, one of the youngest members of our musician clique in town, and I have a voice like a trombone with a sinus infection. I'm smart enough to challenge people but I often apologize if I feel like I'm bothering somebody or said something out of place and I think people who apologize a lot are seen as submissive (and therefore annoying). I'm logical and absolutely hate decisions or arguments made on emotion or "feeling good" rather than evidence and will often step in to say something.

I'm a borderline obsessive personality and I put everything I have into things I love. I learn fast and innovate and if someone's not moving along fast enough for me I have a tendency to try and take over. I'm also just strict enough to be controlling in a management scenario and while I don't see it as a problem people resent me for it if I don't handle it the right way. I ask many more questions than most people should, over analyze things, and take the results of both too seriously. I'm awkward in unfamiliar situations if I'm expected to be doing something other than hanging out (like helping run sound at a show).

And they're jealous I have a full beard at 17

They're all jealous of my talent and smouldering good looks.

Plus I have a tendency to say **** a lot. I'm talking a LOT! Every other word out of my mouth is some sort of profanity or other.

I think the Easter services I'm playing at church this weekend could prove challenging in that regard.

Seems us bassists are a lot alike.

Why some folks don't like me:

I have definite opinions on certain matters

I despise BOTH political parties equally

Can't stand ANYTHING Top-40 or radio hits in general

Dislike The Stones, Bruce, Tool and obsessive Rush fanboys

Have ZERO tolerance for intentionally stupid jackass behavior at ANY age, especially middle age

I don't hang out in bars and chase skirts

That I can create WITHOUT the aid of drugs.

That I think "shredding" is complete, vacuous BS

That I don;t follow sports and AVOID watching the Super Bowl at all costs.

Think that covers it

Oh, here's a real *** one, I once got SCREAMED AT for liking Monty Python, no joke.

I'm pretty sure I'll be turning into you soon enough. I'm also the kind of person that doesn't like emotional behavior. You got a problem? Solve it. Don't complain to me about how you keep making the same mistakes. I can get worked up over things I'm passionate about, which is the basic hallmark of a nerd. I don't look nerdy at all, however - I'm a 6' tall Viking-looking dude with long hair, a naturally bulky frame, and an eternal 5 o'clock shadow. I also hate bright light, giving me an unintentional scowl when I'm outside. My physical characteristics often make me seem intimidating or unsociable, although the second you strike up a conversation with me I'll respond with a cheery 'hello!' or 'no problem!' I'm also not that great with socialization, so I tend to have a very polite, proper demeanor when talking with strangers. I can also be pretty didactic, which doesn't go over well with the types that can't stand to be told what to do in any way, shape or form. I have a terribly inappropriate sense of humor, which I try to only show to my close friends, but it sometimes gets out unintentionally. I also tend to go on and on and on, if you haven't noticed yet...
