Why Do people prefer thinner necks?

Maybe it's just me, but I just can't deal with thin necks. In my (former) gigging life, anything thinner than a Fender J (Ibanez SR, Peavey BXP, etc) required constant tweaking of the trussrod. Of course I live in Climate Fluctuation Hell, so that's a major contributing factor. Don't get me wrong, I love the feel of a nice, thin neck, but I hated working on 'em before (and during) every gig.

Guitar or bass, have not noticed that theck thickness has been the key factor in neck stability during weather changes. I've found that fingerboard wood has more to do with it than the neck thickness. Thick or thin, my necks with gaboon ebony fingerboards moved more than anything else in the collection.

Strange...my experience is quite the opposite: my Ibbys have rock solid necks (I've never ever had to adjust the truss rod), while my Wicks are driving me nuts! And I live in an area with high humidity and corrosive salte air/water. The ways of the Bass are strange, indeed ;)

Dude, I mastered logic when I was 10. You are the intellectual equivalent of a spell checker. I am a bad ass killer and you want to engage in a civilized match of fisticuffs? Please.

I use this term lightly on this forum, since it's easy for people to confuse it's meaning, but...

Obvious troll is obvious.

I had my doubts at first but this guy is just a troll. He's just trying to elicit an emotional response. He has no meaningful input here or even an honest question.

Don't feed the trolls, please.
