Why do people think that other people prefer more or less notes?

After reading the "Why do people think that more notes = better" and "Why do people think that less notes = better" it brought me to ponder... Why do some people assume that other people prefer more or less notes in a general sense? I don't play "more notes" or "less notes" I play whatever serves the part of the song that I am playing. Sometimes it's more notes, sometimes its less notes, sometimes it's just right. Thoughts?

Those were two lame threads (that I didn't read). Everyone knows that the correct number of notes is:

(number of measures in the song) / (number of dimes in your pocket + 1) * (sqrt(number of strings) + (number of angels that can dance on the head of a pin))

Hmmm ... there could be a "divide by zero" error in this ... so I amended the formula ... ;)

i wasn't assuming when i started the second thread. many people in the first thread made it more than clear that they didn't approve of "too many" notes or playing too much or too fast. me, i think there's a song / tune for every type of playing.

People have opinions that may differ from yours. Who knew? :D

Why do people think 4/5 string = better?
Why do people think P-bass/Jazz bass = better?
Why do people think roundwounds/flatwounds = better?
Why do people think fingerstyle/pickstyle = better?
Why do people think fingerstyle/slap = better?
Why do people think drop tuning/standard tuning = better?
Why do people think Fender/Rickenbacker = better?
Why do people think short/long scale = better?
Why do fools fall in love?

There are now SIX of these threads branching off from the first, when all of the discussion should have stayed in the first thread. They really should all be merged into one thread instead of cluttering up the board. I enjoy reading threads where both sides defend their point, and I always learn something new from both sides. I'm a newbie with a lot to learn.. Don't go running to create a new one just because the majority in the original thread disagrees with you. That's just how opinions work. Sometimes people will disagree.

er... my opinion is basically that it's ALL good. just because someone doesn't care for something doesn't negate it - it just means they personally don't care for it. a lot of people seem mixed up on this point.

i don't think faster/slower/more notes/less notes is better. and i think fingerstyle is better... for me. in my universe, everyone's mileage may vary :D

(sqrt(number of strings)
And that's why people should only play 4-strings. Working with the square root of a 5-string makes the math much harder. :D

I'm guessing the less notes crowd are republicans and the more notes crowd are democrats! JUST KIDDING FOLKS!!!!!!!!
No, Republicans believe the number of notes per song should be dictated by the "free market". Democrats believe notes should be distributed evenly over all songs. The Libertarians believe notes should go wherever they feel most wanted. The Greens believe notes should be held in a public trust and managed for the good of all songs. ;);););););););););)

It really is all about context. Nobody wants to hear typewriter styled slapping throughout a beautiful ballad, just as they don't want to feel cheated out of a great funky soul line by being bored to death with a series of whole notes. There is a time and a place for everything, the difficult part is the determination of where to draw the boundaries. If we all hear things differently and find comfort in certain playing styles, how are we supposed to agree with what the perfect line is for any piece of music? That's absurd, like going to a chili cook off and demanding one perfect recipe.

But should the bass clef remain in the grandstaff or exit? Each year millions of notes are sent to the grandstaff for little in return. And you get all those migrant notes...
