Why do they never get it right? (Epi Casady content)

Why? On this board there are differences of opinion about everything. Just means different strokes.

Like I already said if it were offered as one of a bunch of finish options it would make more sense. Since it isn't, it doesn't.

How on earth can anyone know that already? The Silverburst just came out.

Go check out the opinions on the Invalid Link Removed that's got a very similar vibe and has been out for a while. A whole lot of people think it's butt ugly and for an item like the JC releasing something similar as one of only three options was a marketing blunder. "Different strokes" doesn't even come close to justifying it from a marketing point of view. It's not like these things are jumping off the rack and they can afford to use a questionable finish.

Yeah? 95% ? lol

Ok I'll change it from "ooh and ah" to "at least it wouldn't keep me from buying the mofo". How's that?

On the JC, yes. Silverburst has been around for quite awhile though.

With that said, I don't think Epi blew it by choosing that color.

Yep, silverburst paint jobs are nothing new.

It's a given that we're discussing the Casady, as it is the topic of this thread.

Only time will tell if enough people like the Silverburst (Casady) to make it a success.

If/when it becomes unavailable, people will be clammoring for one, for it has then become...."rare". lol

1) What you've "already said" is simply your opinion, not gospel.

2) I'm up to speed on the Antigua thread. I bought one myself and have posted there about it. Seems to me that as many folks like the new Atiguas, as don't like them.

Truth is, they're nearly sold out at this point. Authorised Fender dealers can't get any more. Doesn't sound like a marketing failure to me.

3) The Casady has only ever been offered in three finishes. No problem, people still love their Casady's.

Meh. Epi made a bass I like in a finish I think is ugly as hell. I'm over it.
There are major flaws in your argument but you're right about one thing: Only time will tell.

Well, looks like Jack is playing the silverburst ATM, go figure...

would they give me some "royalty" over the sales, I would play it even if in the "pink-green-violet oblique stripes limited edition" model...

;)

I think the burst on the JC is gorgeous. Too bad it was such a limited run, they are now very hard to find on the used market.

^This!

Should they have continued the production, I have the suspect* they would have doubled the sales!!! I like the JC bass, but since I already have... "a few basses" at home, I could never frankly justify buying another to myself in the first place; but no matter what, I would have bought one just for the beautiful 3tone sunburst color combination...

you can easily find the black, the golden one and (recent) the silverburst. For only a brief period it was possible (several years ago, 97/98 if I am not wrong) to find the standard tritone sunburst, that to me, despite its large diffusion, is still one of the most appealing colors...

;)

I agree. I used to have a '98 Vintage Sunburst Casady and it was very nice-looking. Definitely my favorite of the colors that have been offered on it. Here would be my choices in my personal order of preference:

1. Vintage Sunburst
2. Black (also beautiful IMO)
3. Goldtop (Just okay. Kind of boring IMO.)
4. Silverburst (The only way I'd even own one of these is if I planned to have it re-finished. Silverburst just might be my least-favorite color of all time on any bass or a guitar. Just looks to me as though somebody failed to finish the finishing job! Of course YMMV. Different strokes and all...)

^Ibanez does always have the cool colors ;)

On topic though, I like the silverburst JC and do see the sunburst as played out and would've preferred them introducing one in Pelham Blue or the Cherry(faded or not) or even an aged white with black hardware/trim/fixin's.

The thing that Epiphone/Gibson marketing has going for the Epiphone line is that they keep their supply and demand favorable for them and for us. The fact that they limit their color/model options each year make it very valuable for a unique bass of a good quality new or used. That turns an even an Epiphone bass into something that A)I'll either really want to keep or B)Will be valuable/rare enough for me to flip. You don't see that with sunburst MIM Precisions...
