Every Warwick neck I've tried has been a baseball bat. They are fine instruments, though. I've heard them played in many concerts and they always sound good. Not my first choice, but I wouldn't turn one away.

God, how many many times will I have to repeat it.
Warwick went back to their older, slimmer neck profile as of 09 as the standard profile for their necks.

Warwick needs to tell the rest of the world!! I've always thought they made great instruments, but because of the neck, I wouldn't even look at one... Good to know
Everyone who doesn't own a Warwick seems to talk crap about them all the time. I own two basses, a Corvette $$ and an Ibanez pawnshop P.O.S., my first bass. The only reason I still have the Ibanez is pure back up purposes. The Warwick is the last bass I'll ever buy. The tone is out of this world, craftmenship is perfect. It's awsome looking. I know what sound and looks good can differ from person to person, but why all the hate. Maybe because they don't try to sound like a fender.
i owned a corvette and an infinity ltd 2000. then i realized i was buying them based on the newness of the brand (to me and my friends) and the looks. i didnt really like the feeling or sound, personally. the neck always felt kinda sticky and hard to play.
the moral of the story is to realize that statements like "The tone is out of this world, craftmenship is perfect. It's awsome looking." are opinions. you are entitled to yours, but we are also entitled to crap all over them if we choose.
also, i disagree with this statement: "... they don't try to sound like a fender." in my experience, the pickup placment has either been based on a j or p/j configuration.
ok, you're definitely more of an expert on this than me!
Yes, they do look like driftwood, very much so, but for some people, it's what they want. Some people may not like the look of say a p bass, which looks like plastic in my opinion. Wood is a very big part of a basses overall tone, and Warwick basses have always had a distinct phat woody tone. Some people think it's too muddy for their liking. I personally think its what a bass should sound like. As for the neck, I honestly don't see what the problem is with them, I think they're just right. They look like driftwood and have uncomfortable necks.
I believe that the people who ruthlessly bash them are those who would love to have one but can't afford it and thus try to make themselves feel better or project the outward message that they don't want one anyway. Don't worry about it, man. Play what you dig![]()
