Why don't we hear more about Bass Mods?

This the latest bass I just bought from Bass Mods. Love their stuff. The have the feel of Fender Jazz to me
If you mainly play sitting, like me, it's not a terrible problem.
It does seem odd that a chambered body weighs that much.
Maybe I'm just picky, but I'm at the point now where if I'm going to pay over 1k for a bass, I want something 9 pounds or less. I've got a T-40 and a Frankenbass that's just as heavy, but those are "affordable" basses where the weight is part of the charm and I know what I'm getting into.
Any basses I bring into the house from now on have to be 9 or less and with so many bass options out there, there's almost no reason to settle for a heavier bass.
I have zero issues with bassists who prefer heavy basses.

Also, I should add that you don't have to pay a ton or even go with pointy skinny instruments to get a comfortable weight. I had an ESP/LTD Vintage 214 (Full bodied P-bass clone) that was around 8 pounds. and those were under $400 new!
I won't settle for less! Regardless of price, the bass has to fit my criteria of what I deem acceptable!
It just seems like they have a lot of good things going for them. I am not easily impressed. And far less easily impressed with any sort of Fender knock offs. In a massive sea of Fenders of all varieties, Sadowski, Alleva, Suhr, Cort, SX, etc etc etc. ALL making P and Js this Bass Mods is really well done for any sort of price point. If they charged 50-100% more based on the quality I would judge the pricing to be reasonable. But for what they sell new for it is a great deal.
But, the weight makes for pretty much a fatal flaw.
Out of curiosity has anyone played one of these head-to-head vs a Sire?
Though the Sire is $200 less for a 4 stringer it still seems like a good basis for comparison as both are imported active j-style instruments with some minor tweaks and both reportedly punch above their class.

I played a five string version of this bass at a GC yesterday. It was sunburst, 18V preamp (the one in the video below has a 9V). I don't know what brand, since Bass Mods has a lot of preamp options. Delano pickups. Bound and blocked rosewood fingerboard. Priced (used) at $730. Oh.....and it was surprisingly lightweight.
If I didn't already have a really cool sunburst PJ5, I would have probably bought it.

I've seen that video before, but I'm always amazed and impressed by Mr. Fitzgerald.

You do realize that that bass is not a bassmods but actually a brand called performance basses?

I know this is a old post (circa 2016), but I think you got it backwards.
Andre felt that he got burned by Sire and switched to Bass Mods.
Damn. He went hard for them (Dame/Sire). In any case, I just can't get with heavy basses nor instruments with no name, unproven hardware. Had a Sire V7 5 for a minute. Was heavy and neck was chunky (this is coming from a Lakland guy).
