Why don't we hear more about Bass Mods?

The only reason I haven't tried one or a Sire is due to them being heavy. That and the 5 string necks being more like the Fenders. I like Lakland 5 string necks.

Yeah, I remember Andre Berry was high on them. Now he's a Sire guy. I wonder if the companies are related in some way though.

A bass player friend of mine who tends to be super picky just bought one. I haven't played it yet though but it at least looks decently cool.

Hey, that's my bass! I hear a lot of fella's talking about it being a jazz copy. Yes, and no. The neck is...wait let me double check the comparison with my wife's jazz...well no kidding, you guys are right! The head stock deceived me into thinking it played more like a musicman but I stand psychologically corrected.
The obvious difference between her (my gorgeous beautiful wife's) jazz is the Nordstrand big spits I chose with this bass and the Aguilar electronics. Very deep, punchy and funky.
Both basses are the standard alder body/maple necks but I noticed in my comparison that without amplification the fender has a deeper tone. Could be densities in wood?
Both are equally heavy if 10lbs is what you call heavy...pfff.
On another note (Aminor)
I chose the low action option with plek job. When I recieved the bass every string was super buzzy and had to adjust the bridge drastically. Now of course it doesn't play quite as fast but still it's a great playing bass with cutting edge technology and at an awesome price. I think I payed $1300?

I'm good with J style basses right now in my collection. I'd be interested if they did a P, though.

They seem to do the P thing reasonably well.

He plays beautifully, but with the exception of slap tone, I really didn't like the way that bass sounds at all. Maybe it's the amp, or who knows what, but the only thing that didn't sound awful to me was slap. And I'm not a slap guy except on the upright.

Doing my best to sound objective; we haven't heard much about them because they're a relatively unknown company that sells Jazz style basses for around 1k. Fender sells the Jazz bass for around 1k as well.

In contrast, Sire doesn't sell Sire, Marcus Miller sells Sire. If he played a Bass Mods bass, there'd be a Bass Mods club on TB 300+ pages deep!

I bought a drop in pre for a jazz from them right on the tail end of their ebay run. It was a standard jazz so i needed three jnobs and a jack, which i ordered, with an A/P mini toggle. What i got was a four knob plate with no jack. Contacted them by email and explained the situation and the reply was i should be glad i got a more expensive unit than i ordered. I explained i had no desire to drill a jack hole in my bass and the reply was basically that i lacked a sense of adventure and a repeat of i should be glad i got a free upgrade. At that point i thankd them for thinking enough to give a free upgrade but i was not going to use it so just send me an RA or whatever and i'd return it for a refund. Long syory short i wound up paying to return the item and afer almost a month of back and forth with things like, the owner has health problems and he's the only one who can authorize a refund and other assorted stalls, i finally turned the mess over to ebay, and got my refund. A couple weeks later i get a very butthurt email saying if i wanted a refund, all i had to do was ask. After that they basically faded from ebay and i thought they were gone. I had no idea they went into the bass business.

I bought 4 pre amps from them about 4 years ago....2 x 3band and 2 x 2 band from EBay.........I emailed recently to ask for a wiring diagram recently when a wire came loose and I wasnt sure where to re connect .......no reply.......I would'nt buy an expensive bass if thats their definition of customer service...

If Ethan Farmer is an R&B and Gospel bassist. Maurice Fitzgerald has played dozens of high profile Gospel jobs, most notably, he was Fred Hammond's touring bassist for several years. Apparently Bass Mods come from an overseas shop in Asia, and that explains the low price.

I almost bought one of their fretless basses before when it was on clearance. Since then they stopped offering four string basses so there isn't much I could use from them anymore.

They seem to stick to the 5 to 7 string Jazz basses now, with a couple 5-6 string PJs thrown in there.

They have 4's, five of the twelve shown on their current first page of available basses are 4 string.

I have one of the early K6's and love it. Kent Armstrong Pickups, BassMods Preamp, 35" Scale, 18mm spacing at bridge. Chambered Ash Body. it is a fantastic bass. my main bass for the worship band at church. it sits perfectly in the mix. and no, i don't slap.

I have never been happier with a bass. Rob has always been great about responses and questions. don't think you can find a better bass for the money. i am saving my pennies for a 5 string.

Hmm, it must have been a dry spell last time I checked.

I remember a couple years ago though they had a more options. Fretless basses, Jazz basses, a couple PJs, etc. I almost bought this fretless PJ they had on sale back then.
