Why don't we hear more about Bass Mods?

I have a 5 string and 6 string and really like them. I have had them for over three years and about to upgrade the 5 with Bart pickups. The six string has Bart pickups and a 3 band Bart preamp. It also has an Alder body with a spalted maple top and back. The neck is maple with a wenge fingerboard.

Dang. They have some four string Jazz basses for less than 800 dollars WITH A PLEK JOB.

I don't do business with any company that doesn't answer their phone or return calls. I called every day for a week and left a couple messages about making an appt. to check out their basses. No bueno.

I have an obsession for wood. The musical kind.
I was impressed by the reviews that I read a couple of years ago, so I ordered a new one, and was really eager to get it. Well, the neck felt like a baseball bat, fretjob was uneven (even after a PLEK), and the neck's flatness was anything but (uneven curves/humps). The pickups also wouldn't adjust for the life of me. I didn't even care to take it home and plug it in, because it played so poorly, and also, it was not light.
The company, however, was cool with the return process, just that I'm not interested in them anymore. And it's very lame that they got rid of the super-handy truss adjustment wheel at the heel, for a crappy little headstock hole (which is a pain, because of having to loosen strings, especially with the string retainers in the way).
**Remember, regarding PLEK, that it only guarantees great results if the programmer punches in the right initial data.** A machine is only as good as it's operator.
The company, however, was cool with the return process, just that I'm not interested in them anymore. To the OP--get a Bacchus. They blow Bass Mods completely out of the water. I'm not saying to splurge on their priciest one, but perhaps their more-affordable Craft Series. Outsourced wood from Asia that is shipped, shaped, and built all by hand in Japan. The only differences from the flagship DX line, are non-local woods, and cheaper hardware.
I took the jump and got one, after seeing all of the great words about them, as well as Danny Stewart's plethora of vid reviews on them. Mine just kicks all kinds of ass.

The OP just asked the question on why they are not talked about in comparison to some of the other popular companies. No one is asking the opinion on what is a better purchase option.

If a person does not mine the weight, I think Sire is the best bang for the buck in the $500 - $700 range.I think that Sire and Lakland are probably the best bang for your buck in that range.
Bass Mods often have a couple discounted basses in the 700$ - $800 range, but for the most part, the basses cost over $1000.
Lakland is also a great brand!
Every neck needs a fret leveling. The PLEK machine just does it more accurately than a human can.
I've emailed them before, they replied pretty quick.
In this day an age lots of people are shifting to email or text as their only means of communication.
They should have called you back though.
I'm guilty of ignoring phone calls on my phone a lot, mostly because I don't have time to chat people up at their convenience, but I will make a point to return a call if someone leaves a message. I almost always ignore phone calls from unknown numbers and operate under the assumption that if they didn't leave a message, they didn't want to contact me that badly. I deal with a lot less telemarketers that way.
Then again I'm not in business selling products to people. Im a desk job salary man right now.
Not true. The leveling is needed when the neck is not level to start with and metal is shaved off of the frets. If the neck is perfectly level to start with it is not needed.
Ive considered buying their k6 or k7 6 and 7 string jazz bass clones. They seem to be willing to make extended range models fender won't. Think I saw them selling 5 string fretless Jazz. Another bass fender refuses to make.
