Why DR strings are amazing

I swear by Hi-Beams as well. I used to rely on Rotosounds until I experimented with the Hi-Beams on a MusicMan clone and fell in love with them.

For my most recent gig I stripped my Jazz bass of a relatively fresh set of Rotos and replaced them with the Hi-Beams - I have never had that many people come up to me afterwards to compliment my sound before. Thunderously sharp sound yet buttery-smooth at the same time.

Have you tried the SS Lo-Riders? To my ears and hands, they seem to be the "like Rotos, only better" strings.

Another DR fan here. When I purchased my Precision from the Perfect Bass I had them set it up with a set of Hi Beam Stainless Flats and have since switched all of my basses over to them except one. I use the Low Rider Nickels on my ESP Vintage 4. Now I'm looking forward to Friday because the Fender Jaguar strung with the DR flats will arrive.:hyper: Just to share my joy here is a pic.

At £30+ a time I'm reluctant to try any more based on the last few sets of the coated ones I've had.

I may take a pop on some again in the future but meh...

Maybe you didn't quite understand what I said before :D
You really haven't even touched the surface of the DR lineup.

Try a set of Hi Beams, Sunbeams, Lo Riders (SS or Nickel) or Fatbeams and tell me you still don't like them...

I'm using Hi-Beams on a P-bass right now and they do sound great. :bassist:

Will someone confirm whether DR seem to be less BUZZY because of the coating. If it is true I'm sold for DR

The Tech, Frenster Guitars WLA, claims that he has had a couple of basses where the DR's just buzzed. Tried changing individual strings out and changing the setup/relief. Nothing worked until he put on another set of non DR's.

What's all this talk about Black Beauties?

I use SS Longnecks on my Lakland 5 string (35" scale), and SS Lo-riders on my Fenders. The Lo-riders DO feel tighter than other brands of the same gauges. The sound of both sets are awesome!! I wanna try Sunbeams but the GC doesn't stock them.... I'll order some soon.

Here is a top 5 list of why DR strings are so good:

#1 - They LISTEN to their customers. Trust me, you can write to them, offer suggestions and they get back to you.
#2 - They really are handmade. For a product that you literally have your hands all over, it makes sense that hand-
crafted products would sound better and feel better.
#3 - They have a diverse line that caters to different players and different needs. Sometimes I feel like it is a black beauty day and sometimes I feel like it is a Highbeams kinda day.
#4 - They have a history of guitar/bass making - son of Guild is founder- so they really know and love the instrument, without trying to sell every musical product under the sun.
#5 - It never hurts to know you are buying into a company that is nice to their employees. My friend used to work there and they gave a turkey to each employee on Thanksgiving, no matter how high/low in the company. Wish my boss did that!!!

GO DR, I WILL PLAY YOU FOREVER!

Loved my Sunbeams until they went dead. They were good for that week. Needless to say I was very dissapointed with the lifetime of these strings.

Well pooh. That's what happens when you get nickel strings.
Put some Hi Beams on next time.

All nickel strings die out and some people like that dead sound, or not. I have a set of Sadowsky's on my Jazz that died pretty much instantly, but I like and expected that worn in nickel sound.

Don't write them off because of that!

Think stainless Hi-Beams would sound good on a Ric 4003?
