Agreed. This is why I also like D'Addario's.I'm glad they DON'T use silk!
I'm loving the Gnome-action on my basses.

Will someone confirm whether DR seem to be less BUZZY because of the coating. If it is true I'm sold for DR
Can some describe the difference, in tone and feel, between the SS and Nickel Lo-Riders
Considering trying a set on the P-Bass
Thanks
Maybe they have enslaved gnomes working magic in their buildings.. that explains it. DR gnomes.

gonna give DR another shot. I bought the Hi-Beams when they first came out. They sounded OK but not as good as Rotos. Just bought the LH5-40 Lo-Rider set to hear what they sound like. I'll give my critique![]()
Oh well, back to Rotosounds
+many
However, while installing my don't-know-how-manyth set of DR strings, i cut one set too short and there was not enough grip for the strings to hold. In fact, cos of the high pressure due to the short bit of string holding on, my string broke as i strung it up. (actually more like, the tuner cut thru the string)
DR was nice enough to send me a new set, though. For that, i'm a customer for life.
Their strings being great also helps.
I just bought a set of hi beams for my 5er (been a long time lo rider user). As I was stringing up the low B (.125) the damn thing snapped! A string 1/8" thick. I was amazed.
I called DR and they said they would send me a replacement. The mail just came, they sent me a whole new pack! I've been playing DR's for as long as I can remember...and that's one more reason why. THANKS!
...At Bass and nature camp my light gauge fodera strings outlasted them by MONTHS.
Marko5657 said:Well, I have a set of Jonas Hellborgs on my four-string P thats just for home recording, and recently got a set of medium nickel low riders for my gigging Jazz V.
My guitarist, experienced in setting up guitars a basses put them on for me along with a set of bassline pickups, but the B string unwound at the tuner.
I found where I could order a single B string, but the cost was prohibitive, so I just bought a whole new set, and figured Id use the B and sell the other four to someone with a four-string, or even put on a four-string Jazz I have for sale.
Then I thought I should just try their customer service, so, I just went to the DR site and sent them an email explaining all, and well see what happens.
I implied that a single B string would be wonderful (which Id be happy with), but hey, if they send me a whole set, Ill put those on my Squier Jazz V, replace the B on the Fender V, and still have a four-string set.
Or, I could save them for the ATK305 thats become my gigging bass for now, when the stock Elixirs need replaced.
Wish me luck.![]()
I work at a music store and I called DR for a special order of strings.. they called me back and were the nicest manufacturer I have ever spoke with.. Not to mention that the woman i spoke with sounded like an Angel..
I think that DR strings are almost too good to be true.. Maybe they have enslaved gnomes working magic in their buildings.. that explains it. DR gnomes.
Here's another vote for D R strings - I think they make a phenomenal product. I've used several models of strings including HiBeams, LoRiders, Black Beauties and their guitar strings and they all sound spectacular. They last a long time too.
