I feel i was very humble and politically correct about how i posted my dislike of collectors who can't play well and put Youtube videos up showing their 20 guitars that they can't play. you only need one to get good.
Your argument seems to keep shifting like a target being placed where the bullets hit.Well collecting is fine. but when it affects a serious players ability to get an instrument he truly needs or would do justice by owning. well then i just don't agree with collectors. guitars were meant to be played.
i actually think this is a fair question. the answer to which: is also fair, whether i/we agree with it or not.why not learn to play one before you buy 20 more?
i have since hated the world and find it hard to continue living. i take it day by day at this point. it's all i can do.
you're going to have to get a better grip: this is talkbass.well: my advice = don't post threads. but this thread belies that statement even though you have been --- apparently --- successful. good luck on your journey!for what it's worth i never joined this site to make friends.
I often wonder why people post on public forums when they have no grasp of spelling or punctuation.
let me be the first to congratulate you... and to advise that you get out a little more.I don't drink, smoke, do drugs, gamble, womanize, watch tv, go to concerts, don't dance, or go to clubs
And that's all related to someone who can't play but owns 17 basses... how?Not absurd. i have been playing since the late 80s professionally. have been in many types of bands from here in PA to Northridge, and Hollywood ca. Played spring break Daytona in the 90s. just so much. i remember a time when musicians were serious and there were not a lot of hobby people. Gibson quality is going down? Music man. i have had to send a stingray back because of fret problems. i could go on about quality control issues. and not just about basses. i also play guitar. had quality control issues. pa system issues . expensive home studio monitors issues. "quality control" is a problem when too many people are buying . not absurd at all.
Less complaining. More grammer. What? I have 1 Fender Jazz. 1 fender precision . 1 Music man 5 string. that makes 3.
Its a sickness..LOL I could get caught up with it easily. There Beautiful and Seductive. I have friends who have thousands of dollars invested in all types of guns and they are never shot. They see the light of day when the gun safe is opened to show off to their friends.Certainly not to be judgemental or come across superior in any way.other but i often wonder why do so many people own so many expensive basses when they can hardly play one? maybe i am missing something here, but it just seems pointless and a waste. is it perhaps an insecurity thing . you know the more great basses you have will make you a better player? also it would stand to reason that a serious player would want to "bond" with one instrument and get to know it intimately. i would think that is important. in my first years i had one good 80s fender precision bass that was with me for many bands clubs and gigs. i didn't need 10 basses. was just wondering what others thought.
So someone must earn the right to have a collection of basses? Also i have been playing seriously since the age of 17. early 40s now. i think i have "earned" the right to have 5 basses if i so choose.
You could start by quoting the person to whom you are addressing.Seems you already have an entire theme about me lined up. what can i possibly do to defend myself.
you only need one or two basses to become a good or great bass player
What specifically bothers you? The fact that people collect things? That people may be at a different point along the path to becoming the best bass player that they can be? How people allocate their disposable income? The appropriate use of capital letters?Certainly not to be judgemental or come across superior in any way.other but i often wonder why do so many people own so many expensive basses when they can hardly play one? maybe i am missing something here, but it just seems pointless and a waste. is it perhaps an insecurity thing . you know the more great basses you have will make you a better player? also it would stand to reason that a serious player would want to "bond" with one instrument and get to know it intimately. i would think that is important. in my first years i had one good 80s fender precision bass that was with me for many bands clubs and gigs. i didn't need 10 basses. was just wondering what others thought.
