I am most definitely an Apple fan NOW through and through. I spent several years fighting it while owning Droid devices.
To me there's no comparison between the two, IPhone wins hands down.
The key points that make a Droid good are irrelevant in my day to day needs and are not a big enough selling point to sway my decision, things like the ability to customize more, and so on.
What really did me in with Droid is the CONSTANT over and over and over and over again with the OS upgrades and changes.
You buy one $300-$400 phone and just as you start really getting to know it well, you've got an upgrade to a whole new OS on the market.
No big deal if your phone is capable of running the new system but my experience never failed to have me sitting with one that just didn't handle the upgrade properly leaving me in a position to have to now go out buy a new $300-$400 phone, learn the new phone and all it's tricks, plus a new system and it's ins and outs. Only for the process to repeat itself again within the year.
When ICS came out shortly after Gingerbread and my phone that wasn't even that old barely ran properly off of Gingerbread let alone trying to add Ice Cream Sandwich now, I gave up and took a dive into Apple head first.
Over the coarse of that first week it was like learning a foreign language, to say I hated the IPhone was an understatement but I stuck it out and took the time needed to get to know it and familiarize myself with it. Once I did it was like the angels in heaven opened up the pearly gates and cleared the clouds to reveal the sun's warm light upon my life. Lol
It just works for me, and FOR ME it's everything I want out of a phone.
Having said that, this doesn't mean Droid sucks, not by any means.
Just that I had a bad run with it.
The thing with Droid is that there are levels to a droid where IPhone is one platform.
With Droid you can get a cheap piece of junk entry level phone and have the absolute worst experience possible or do your homework choose a good model and have an incredible experience.
I phone is what it is there are no levels it's one phone everyone's happy. I believe this is where Droid kinda shoots themselves in the foot often, if they'd scrutinize a bit and set requirements for running their system to only phones that can handle there latest as well as expected advancements they probably would keep far more customers in the long run.
But they allow these phones to run their system that really are just not powerful enough to do so and they end up being littered with technical issues.
Personally I feel that VERY EASILY you can get a high end phone running Droid and have a perfect experience with it. And have plenty of benefits from doing so.
Just the same as iPhone offers a great package.
So basically to me the difference is that Droid and IPhone are equal on many levels and where they differ is IPhone has no lower end level and Droid does.
You can't let Droids low end speak for their quality of their top tier phones though. Anyone that says Droid is crap on all levels has just not used a good model there are a few out there I've seen myself that blow IPhone away in speed and many other areas.
I love my 4S and won't go back to Droid unless they make some big changes, but that doesn't mean they suck, just means my time with them left a bad taste in my mouth and now they're paying for it.
