Why iPhone and not Android?

Yup - I do sometimes wonder if things might have been different if Adobe hadn't bought out Macromedia - would Flash have gone in a different direction, and would it have acquired the somewhat bad reputation it seems to have now? Who knows. But I do know that the Macromedia Studio bundles were far cheaper than the Adobe Creative Suite bundles...

Ask any skilled programmer who has had to develop Flash content what they think of Flash. :/

Android vs iPhone: A very well-known developer of Facebook games allows its thousands of employees to choose a company-supplied Android or iPhone. More than 80% choose iPhone, I believe because they've figured out they're more productive on iOS.

Flash is actually pretty good as a development platform - Actionscript 3 is a very powerful programming language, is fully object-oriented, is well-supported and there are many available class plugins, extensions, etc. It's a very mature and capable development platform. The problem with Flash is pretty much entirely down to the bloated player which uses loads of resources and memory.

Android is way better IMO. I have the Droid Razr bigger screen, thinner, lighter, real 4g, gorilla glass (had it for almost a without a screen protector and there's barely a scratch a I abuse the hell out of it), way more customization, Google Music = 20,000 songs available at all times, most apps that you have to pay for on iPhone are cheaper or free on Android, there's dozens of different choices, the list goes on. Also I love the notifications too with the pull down menu it makes it so much easier to use. Basically if you want the same exact phone through and through as everyone else get the iPhone but if you want to have a different better phone go Android. Me and one of my best friends have the same phone except mines white and his is black and if I pick up his phone it is literally 100% different than mine just because we want them different ways and we can that won't happen with the iPhone.

It was mentioned before and is worth mentioning again. When you get an iPhone, you know what you are getting. When you get an Android, you are getting what you pay for. There are cheap phones out there running an Android OS. Don't bitch about the OS if you have a crap phone.

I have a Samsung galaxy S2, which, at one point, was one of the most advanced Android phones to get. The new Razr is a current phone in that category. use a capable device before you comment on the OS it's running!

If you put racing fuel in a Neon, it's still a crap Neon, regardless of what you put in it. If I buy the cheapest, lowest spec Android phone I could find, then it's NOT going to shine. Plain and simple.

Well somebody decided they would like my phone, and then helped themselves, and now continue to use my number (so its pretty easy to trace them cause it's still our account and we have a detailed bill seeing exactly what they've been saying and who they've been talking to coming in) so wish me luck tracking this bugger with my $600 phone! :atoz:

I'm an Apple fan in general, and one of the great features about Apple products is how seamlessly they work together. Household has two Macbooks, two iPhones and an AppleTV and everything plays together nicely, especially as the iCloud and iTunes Match become more advanced.

But as for me, when the time is right, I'll be investing in an unlocked iPhone 5. Reason? I don't look at mobile phones as a closed system - particularly not if one has the Apple logo on it.

While the receivers themselves have their share of advantages and disadvantages, relative to Android, the real beauty of an iAnything is 1) the huge number of apps available - many of which are actually useful and valuable, and 2) the high degree of interoperability of devices and synchronization of data that's possible via iCloud. (Perhaps that's what you meant by "bloated synching software"?)

That's it. Assuming all other basic functions are at least in the same ball park with Android, those two aspects of the Apple system seal the deal for me... :cool:

Ok, the day finally came. My free corporate Blackberry service is ending and I'll be buying a phone tonight. I've chosen the Samsung Galaxy S III. For better or worse, right or wrong, here's why:

-From what I can tell through endless reviews, the GS3 matches or exceeds the Iphone 5 in all areas
-Can't stand being tied to Itunes. Used it for years on Ipod Touch
-Universal USB connectivity and power, no proprietary cabling, etc.
-Bigger screen
-Google maps, not Apple maps
-Faster processor (I realize this may or may not affect performance given the different OS)
-Higher front facing camera resolution
-Better battery life (?)
-Memory card slot to increase memory!!!
-My friend's Iphone 5 is bending?!
-I know the Apple OS layout due to the Ipod Touch, so I'd like to try another

We'll see how it goes. Hopefully I'll be happy with my choice. Thanks for all the feedback people!

A friend has the S3 and she (and I) love it! I considered getting it, but Samsung is *supposed* to be releasing the S4 in the spring, so I'm holding onto my S2 until then...

I've had the Galaxy S3 for about four months. Great phone, good reception, and once I got used to the menu structure I find it extremely flexible. I think that's a very good choice.

Those silly little buggers are slender and slippery, so put some kind of a skin over it immediately - they're much too dang easy to drop.

Buying skins and cases for me is an Ebay exercise - usually much less expensive.

BTW - I have an Otterbox Defender case for the S3 that I'm selling - it's too bulky for me and I decided that I don't like the clip-in holster. If I were harder on a phone I'd keep it, but I don't need it. Mine is black with green accents.

Yes, I'll be adding an Otter Box Commuter. Phones are now way to expensive not to protect.

Samsung Galaxy owners....what does the S in S2 or S3 stand for? Stratosphere?

Verizon now has the Samsung Galaxy Stratosphere 2 for sale, and it has a slide out keyboard, a requirement for me. I've been using a Droid since the first one, but I'm getting tired of them. This is great news for me.

ahh expensive phones nowadays. weekly i see someone on facebook dropped their iphone and now the screen is shattered.

i've thrown my samsung evergreen at walls numerous times and its still going. at band practice my bandmates are trying to look up songs on youtube for possible covers to play they're taking forever to load i've already got it up and going.

nice toy i guess.
