well, that's fine, but I never claimed to know better. what I mean to say is that I doubt very much that the setup time is going to be a whole lot different on any resonable bass.

I expect that the reason why some engineers request people use a fender is mostly just a precaution to prevent them bringing in some weird hacked up "custom" thing which may have some issues that would interfere with doing a decent recording.
And probably some of them just buy into the same marketing and herd mentality as the rest of us.

I thought musician's worked together...but if bullying the lead works for you...well.....awesome. Good luck with that one. should get you reeeeeaaaaal far....

Anyway, I just got back from a real fun gig out in the real world (you know, as opposed to posing in a mirrror with "superior" basses) with like-minded talented musicians, makin real money and making people feel good dancing while playing my Fender and having a great time...what's your excuse...oh, still arguing moot point worthless topics controlled by personal tastes on a mesage board all night? Wow.

"Fenders suck"... wow. enightenned AND almost a complete sentence, good job.

Yes, it's sad. It's so sad that I'll be going to Stuttgart for 2 nights at a 20,000 seat arena next week. Oh, and I'll be bringing a FENDER.

Before you cast aspersions, you ought to know who you're talking to, Mr. Greatperson. Till then, go away and don't bother me.

Well, the first part of my post, in regards to your role of the bass still stands. It should be a team effort...well, unless you're bandleader too, but the bass shouldn't drive the drums any more than the triangle player should.

the second half was for the Fender haters with one line quips like "me toos" that always pop up in these threads, never having anything real to add, and not directed at you...I thought that would have been clear...but no. My apologies.

Have fun in Stuttgart...may your shows be wonderful on your Fender.

why do we always have to sit around and flame each other. 90% or more of these threads are nothing more than conclusions based on subjectivity. what flats will sound best? what the best 8x10 to go with my eden, what outboard DI is better than the rest, which bass player is over rated. Gene Simmons sux, Fieldy sux, FLea sux enough already! Good Lord, is coke better than pepsi? is the Big Mac better than the whopper....who cares its what you like and what works best for you, i read peoples opinions and try to find out information on gear just like everyone else but sooner or later it always seems to get out of hand......why can't we just all get along (its fun to say that even though it makes me sound like a big dork!) so what, you like fenders and he don't. i like Laklands and you like warwicks. i swear by ampeg and you use GK...are you necessarily right and I'm wrong? nah, its what you like. or sometimes what you can afford at the time.....

Which is exactly why I steer the threads like I do, because they always devolve...it's rediculous. You ever notice these threads are almost always started by newbies? Newbies that quickly abandon them to start new flame worthy threads? You really think I give a damn what other people play or feel bad because others may not like my choices? Thing is, too many here DO feel that way, and I find it hilarious.

"hey! I just plugged a bass in for the first time...I dunno what I WAS MISSING!!!NEATO!!!!!!" threads.

What makes this forum crappy at times is the noobs with their generalizations...some actually do come here for info and knowledge, but too many others come here to skim threads and get ammo to start b.s., and it's just tired. Can't you just shut off your computer and jack off to ease your frustrations? It's right up there with Maple vs Rosewood and SX vs Alembic threads. Enough already.

3...2...1... here come the posts of rational do gooders suggesting I just butt out of threads that don't concern me. :D

I don't see what the bid deal is. Someone asked a question. A bunch of people tried to answer, and those answers got some peoples Undies all twisted up.


It's no big deal. The real world isn't one giant candy coated love fest.

People who disagree is what makes this place interesting.

If every thread was... "Bass X Rocks" followed only by +1's this place would be a lot less entertaining. :D

Actually it wasn't the first. Paul H. Tutmarc beat Fender by about 15 years with his Audiovox #736.

Fender was the first commercially successful electric bass, but even it got off to a slow start.

I don't think the music world was quite ready for it when Tutmarc introduced his electric bass ca 1935 and he didn't have the facilities for larger scale manufacturing and distribution. So it seems that lack of any real demand coupled with little supply resulted in oblivion for the Audiovox #736 until recently.
