It's worth whatever someone will pay for it. With the Obvious Beatles connection I all but guarantee it will sell.

Plenty of guitars and basses regularly sell for much higher than I personally think they're worth, depending on who played them.

This is the very reason I don't obsess over vintage instruments. I buy new for $600-$1000 and my sound is just fine.

Why is it so expensive? In my view, its because its moved away from being a "bass guitar" and now its a "collectible bass guitar". Just like a 1948 Ferrari MM (barchetta) used to be just a car and now is a "collectible car".

Once something moves into the realm of being a collectible item, its original specifications and intentions become moot, along with the original notions around value and pricing...
