Why no Hemp?

Perhaps you were the first, with nods also to France, for seeing this debate for what it is - a boiled-down ideological focus on the stupidity of American Legislative Ideology - not the stupidity of American Ideology, though I have a non-related gripe there too - but American Legislation and Dollar ideology.
It's staggering, American Stupidity is, even in 2007, with regard to non-justified paranoia. And it is paranoia perpetrated not by hemp consumers, but by non-hemp prohibitionists. Staggering. History will judge, one day...
Otherwise, the USA, and California in particular, has the resources to change, and perhaps supply the middle-East, and mellow them out a bit... (if i'm not controversial now...) If only we could change the @#$% feds first, on multiple counts.

Random thought: going though 500 pictures and picking out the "good ones" is tough... I think i took around 1000 pictures last week, already deleted half of them and now that i am home the fun is started... look forward to 5 good pictures out of 500 i brought home.

As for the hemp, i think al the posts sum it up. I think it's grown here in tasmainia and they make jeans and stuff out of it. Given the points on here it just seems the typical power corps are making sure their shares stay good.

In democratic nations, government decisions such as banning hemp are made because a majority of voters, in their ignorance, want it that way. Blaming business or other "special interests" is foolish. It's the people who are to blame.
Unfortunately, there is no better alternative.

Looks like somebody doesn't understand how lobbying works. The special interests push the legislation, then the government fabricates/spins information to make it more appealing to the people. Most people have no idea about all the provisions of the laws Congress passes or what the real effects of the legislation will be.
Easy, tiger. A better understanding of how to get things done at this level wouldn't hurt you, either. Advocacy isn't just done by mean-spirited faceless special interst groups fellating one of the US government's many peckers. People do it, too. Groups of people with similar ideas. Many times to the benefit of average people who happen to share a common trait or charactersitic. You should try it.
So I'll say it again. Instead of sitting around and bitching about how you're all getting screwed and quoting endless factoids about hemp, try doing something about it. How many of you have actually contact your congressman concerning the issue? How many of you, dissatisfied with his/her response, tried another avenue? Anyone bothered to try organizing your own interest group? With so many of you playing the same song and you quoting so many reasons for the legalization of hemp...what's the problem? Too busy? Don't know where to start?
I'd venture that many of you are too freaking lazy or high (if you're not, please don't bother pretending to be offended). Yes, I'll prescribe to that stereotype. I've seen it over and over and over, again. I've heard this argument in countless dorm rooms, apartments, and smog-filled GM products cruising at 35 mph down the freeway.
Most of you don't vote, I'm sure. The concept of actually proactively trying to affect the laws you complain about everyday probably doesn't even appeal to you. You'd rather sit around and quote facts about hemp's usefulness and how we're all getting screwed and it's not fair. You've got history, science, numbers...everything on your side...and what have you done with it? NOTHING. Waht do you plan on doing with it? NOTHING. At this point, blaming anyone but yourselves seems a little dumb.
You'll have to forgive me if I don't have too much compassion for a potential advocacy group that has a lot going for it, is too lazy to bother and LOVES to complain.
