Why no Hemp?

Here's some facts...

-Hemp grows well without herbicides, fungicides, or pesticides. Almost half of the agricultural chemicals used on US crops are applied to cotton.

-Hemp can produce more pulp per acre and needs chlorineless bleaching as opposed to using trees. Plus you can get a crop every 6 months. Trees take years.

-Hemp fiber paper can resist decomposition and can be recycled many more times than regular paper.

-Hemp fiberboard has been found to be twice as strong as wood-based fiberboard

-Hemp seed is more nutritious than soybeans! And the protein is more easily digested than soybeans.

-Hemp is not psychoactive. It even contains a cannaboid that prevents the absorbtion of thc...

So...my question is...why no hemp production in the US? China is the largest producer in the world of hemp fabrics...
France harvested 10,000 tons in 1994...
Mercedes and BMw use hemp fiber for composites...
Finland designed a strain that can grow in cold climates...
Subsidies of $230 pounds per acre are given to farmers in the UK by the gov't for growing...
Japan, Netherlands, Hungary, India, Poland, Romania, Russia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Egpyt, Portugal...the list goes on so once again...why no hemp in the US?

No hemp because Americans in general are stupid, and many of them still think marijuana is the "Devil's weed".

Also, a lot of companies don't want it legal and produced here because it would eat into their profits. It really just comes down to money.

I have seen that 12 or 13 states have petitioned for legislation to allow it. Esp. in North Dakota and Montana, where our northern neighbors are making $300 more per acre for their hemp as opposed to all the damn corn grown in this place.

That's part of the reason so much hype was stirred up back in the day: Hemp posed a VERY VERY serious threat to cotton, because frankly, it's a superior choice. Think about America "back in the day" don't you think Cotton was big business? Had governmental ties perhaps?
