I have very poor circulation, which mostly affects my hands and feet. I wear thermal socks even in the summer. It’s terrible for playing bass, especially in the winter. It can take hours for my hands to warm up. I used to pick up those mountain climbers’ instant hand warmers before gigs, as even if I practiced all day, my hands would turn to ice while on the way there. About 12 years ago, I started taking those stretchy, one-size-fits-all gloves and cutting the fingers off. It helped tremendously, as the larger surface area of my hands weren’t losing heat as rapidly. I tried one of these gloves, just to see if it worked any better, and it makes a world of difference. It may look silly, but at my age, I really don’t mind. I still wear the cut-off glove on the right hand. Otherwise, the fingers get too cold to play on tempo. There are a couple of additional benefits that I hadn’t thought about, such as my strings lasting longer and my fretboard stays cleaner between deep cleanings. I know, the funk’s in the gunk, but I have a couple of basses that I want to save from getting too funky.
TL;DR - If you have terrible circulation, Raynaud's syndrome, or are just playing in freezing weather, the glove makes playing so much easier. It also keeps hand oils and dead skin from the strings & board.

Thank you. Any video with that sort of cover photo(or whatever the hipster slang is for it)has instant zero credibility/validity. I might have been amused by that…when I was nine years old. The poorly superimposed/absurd composite of images falls in that catagory as well.
I will trust my own experience. Also, youtubers are cringe.
Good eye, yes it's the bomb. 2006 - 2008 CIJ GL Signature with an aftermarket pickguard, fresh set of rounds, and a professionally setup from saddles to pup height, to neck adjustments. My eyesight just isn't good enough for measurements of 32 seconds of an inch anymore.
Ah well, they're not wrong. The jazz bass, like any bass with 2 well-placed pickups and a decent control knob setup, is a versatile instrument. They went through a while lot of cringe to make a basic point that must of us can figure out pretty easily on our own

The problem is that clickbait works. Here we are discussing this video, which will drive hundreds to his online platforms, possibly get some online lesson signups, and get Scott and his associates closer to buying one more matching pair of Foderas, or another Porsche or large home. And I’m only helping with that right now. Rats!
