WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY? WHY?

I know... this will be what, like the 3rd "The Thing"?
Teh original was good, but to me the Kurt Russell one was awesome - the definitive "The Thing". This one? Just going to be more CGI/special effects and same old same old..why even bother

There was already a thread on this. Well, actually it was about remaking Scarface, but still....my thoughts are in there.

It IS a prequel, about the initial discovery of the alien ship and its accidental release by the Norwegians, but still, yeah, it's prolly gonna be a steaming pile of my bowel babies.

And personally the thought of a live action Akira, let alone remakes of Robocop or Oldboy makes me wanna punch kittens. Just. stop. already.

Just about everything else on that list, right up to Total Recall, makes me say "meh" so hard it would wake the dead.

Here's what not to look forward to:

They are going to remake Three Musketeers twice this year? Damn, it's getting ugly.

Total Recall and Evil Dead, even Dune? This is disgusting.
Oldboy? I bet they will change the ending and call it good.

Pretty much everything on that list is going to be remade with "super awesome effects". Call me old fashioned but I like real explosions, real car chases, real stuntmen, real makeup, real fake blood :ninja:

Apparently they started remaking The Changeling (1980 horror), and shut down production when they realized it would never hold a candle to the original.

George C. Scott is a tough act to follow....and still one of the best haunted houses ever!

Considering they spoiled everything in the trailer, yes, it will blow. And it will blow hard.

"Hey, what was the primary driving force behind the terror in John Carpenter's The Thing?"

"The paranoia accompanying the fact that any one of your teammates could be an alien in disguise plotting to kill you?"

"Yeah! We should totally **** on that and reveal who will be transformed in our movie's trailer so we can kill any suspense before the audience even enters the ****ing theater!"

:scowl:

hahahahahahaha.
That's one of the big problems with newer movies for me.
There is no mood or feel half the time.
A scary movie should be eerie. I cant remember the last time I saw one, that made me feel a little uneasy. Besides some decent foreign films. And excessive gore is fine with me. But that shouldn't be where all the focus is.

Hahaha! YEAH MAN! AND WE'LL LET 'EM KNOW BY MAKING HIS NOSE WIGGLE...slightly....you know, like in Bewitched. :hmm: only menacing, of course.

I agree with one of those.

Dune.

Please, I beg of you, make that steaming pile disappear. Do the books justice.

The original, the remake, or the upcoming re-remake?

I thought the David Lynch movie was as accurate as it could be for its running time, but to really do the book justice, it should have been six hours long. Too much had to be left out to make it into a movie.
