TMNT : CGI remake they just did was suppose to be like the old awesome violent comic books... It failed

Godzilla: They re did it with what Mathew Broderick ... and it sucked.

Robo cop: Well Detroit looks a lot worse now to the environment will be spot on.

The remake of DotD revolutionized the zombie genre in one simple but awesome way. If I'm not mistaken EVERY zombie movie up until that point had them as "shamblers", whereas DotD had them as "Hey! they're RUNNING!".

Added a galaxy's worth of tension and action. I loved the movie.

Don't have access to IMDB right now, but wasn't 28 Days Later before the DOTD remake? However, we could argue that the 28DL zombies weren't true zombies in the 'coming back from the dead' sense.

But yes, running zombies who put up a bit of a fight took the scares to a whole new level.

I wasn't totally sure if 28DL (which I loved, as well as 28WL) came out before DotD or not. I agree on your premise that 28DL doesn't really qualify as a "Zombie" movie. I'd lump it more into a "The Crazies" type of genre.

Ahh, we're really splitting hairs now aren't we??? LOL

This new Thing film is supposed to be a direct prequel to the John Carpenter version. The makers of the film are very reverent of the Carpenter film. They did their best to faithfully recreate the Norwegian camp based on the scenes featuring it in the Carpenter film. They used practical effects whenever possible instead of relying on CGI. The language barrier supposedly plays a part in the film and will add to some of the suspense. Now, I have no idea if the finished product will be very good. But I am looking forward to seeing it.

Just so long as no one ever does what they did between Highlander I and II.

That was such a huge punch in the nads for every fan of the first movie. For anyone fortunate enough to have avoided the second movie, let me spoil it for you: The immortals, who were all explained as sort of mutants with a purpose in the first movie GOT TURNED INTO ALIENS!!!!

GAWD! The suck level was high in that. "I'm Connor MacLeod of the Clan MacLeod FROM THE PLANET ZEIST"

I'm getting so angry I could vomit just remembering what they did to that movie.

I will now list every single redeeming factor that Highlander II had:








And now I'm done. I suppose I could give partial credit for Virginia Madsen. She was spectacular in nearly everything I ever saw her in. But she was absorbed into the enormous suck of that film and kind of ruined for a couple of years. In fact, I can't remember her doing anything after that movie. I don't know if her career died entirely or if I just avoided her afterward. But I used to be a big fan of hers.

I can't wait to watch this, The Thing is one of my top 5 favorite movies ever. :hyper: :D


Seriously, you gon complain about hollywood doing remakes WHILE REFERENCING A MOVIE THAT IS A REMAKE ITSELF? LOL dude.


Oh yea and on this topic one of the other movies in my top 5, Alien, is having a relevant "prequel" being made for it too. Seriously cannot wait for it. It isn't going to be a direct prequel but there will be things to tie the two together.

Yeah sure, it's a rant but, seeing these trailers that all seem so similar No matter the genre ain't gettin' me into the theaters much. It's like grunge-scream music. The horse is dead & buried but they still put forth more effort to dig it up & beat that carcass more instead of developing new ideas.

Quite frankly, I don't see what the big deal is, since most of these movies were taken from other source material to begin with. They're not "remakes" per se, just different versions of the same material. Movies like "The Thing", "Daredevil", and "Fantastic Four" were not movies first, so these are not "remakes" at all. If the newer versions turn out to be better that the first movie(s), I don't see what the problem is anyway. If they're worse, so what.
IMO, OP is overreacting.

Virtually every film released is spoiled before it even opens.
Spoilers alert! All of these things were revealed in trailers before the release dates:

Lead character gets dragged to hell in Drag Me To Hell.

The Sandra Ho character in Sideways finding out her beau was engaged.

As already mentioned, the new The Thing trailers reveal who gets possessed.

The trailers for "Up" showed the house on top of paradise falls.

In the Sixth Sense, the trailer tells you the famous quote "I see dead people". That doesn't happen until like halfway through the freakin film! Until then you just think the Haley character is a crazy kid.

The Hangover, a movie where every single joke is based on exposition, gives away almost every single big laugh in the film, even letting you know it's Tyson's pet tiger.

Hell, even "Free Willie" showed the whale jumping the wall in the trailer. That's the whole point of the movie!!!

That's 7 of them in 5 minutes off the top of my head!

I agree. Th original was great for it's day. The Kurt Russell remake is really good. I have no plan to see this or many other "new" movies.

I noticed none of these remakes are of M. Night Shyalaman's movies.

That's too bad...it would be nice to see one that actually had an ending that made sense instead of the usual "Huh? That's the ending? What the ****!"
