Recently thought about a 5 string P-Bass. I'm not sure what they were thinking here. To me it's a deal breaker and a value killer.

You must get over the idea that every single Fender is a priceless,sacred heirloom that must be preserved in it's mint condition.
I've never thought that. Based on the price that GC has posted the probably gave $700 on trade. Not sure its worth that though.
The only way I can see this working is if someone you can you different volumes for the P vs J pikcups, so three volumes and one tone. Who knows it might be genius level stuff.
“Modified at Fender” in the description sounds like BS. Someone saw the tractor bass and worked from memory?

The JPJ configuration is awesome. JPJ should have used it.

My first thought with that JPJ mod was that the person was trying to create a 5-string version of Stu Hamm's Fender Urge bass (which was a JPJ bass).
Why not? It's a true P/J bass.

A 2021 production bass is not a classic. Its value is in the eye of the purchaser.
No value to you as a purchaser? Keep moving. Either somebody will buy it at that price, or the seller will eventually need to settle for less.
I'd give it a shout. Probably not for that kind of scratch, but I'm cheap. I'm actually surprised more haven't tried to combine a P and J like this.
