Will 80' styles ever come back into style?

for many years I have collected 80's basses and have quite a few still, but my favorites are still the crackle finishes :)

my point is everyone forgot about them regardless of who made them. Most frown upon them as "not the norm". Most sell them relatively cheap as they are not very wanted items ( NOT YET ) Most think Japan-80's = automatic junk. Most are turned off by a pointy headstock.
Please continue this train of thought for years to come so I can continue to collect "everyone elses junk" and hold on to them until they become popular again.
thank you for your time :):):)

i used to rock a crackel charvel in an old punk band of mine. it was just kind of a community bass but recently i have found myself looking for one. yours is killer

-- In NH, that look never went away. They even rock it unisex.

I think it's mostly a womens style up here these days. Don't forget the overuse of the term Wicked as a descriptor. Last time I heard that down south was the early '80's.

As far as basses, I dig my Ibanez, although at the time in the '80's I was after a Fender P or Carvin.

Don't know what it is called, but I always liked the airbrushed finishes where they would use a black basecoat, and then a wet color topcoat that could be 'pushed' around creating a pattern.

I hope so. Bring it back!

I'm tired of all these boring bands today who dress in all black and stand on stage and just play. I'll buy their CD's, but sure won't buy a ticket to see them.

as BCR was with the body shapes back then, Kramer and Jackson was right there with the wild colors.

it was so popular that all the MIJ 1/2wit copy companies came out and ruined their glory like this Bently Series10 I just bought:

.

who cares if it plays or not, I bought it for 2 reasons:
#1 it's a crackle
#2 it was supercheap

I hope it does play so I can turn some heads, not from it being an expensive unit that has tone until tomorrow, but for the 80's retro look that so many people talk about all the time.:D

Sorry for the nasty pic!

All kidding aside, this is one of the best playing basses/sounding I have ever had. I bought it new in 89 and it is second only to my 2008 American standard P-Bass. I have been on the look out for another one (pink hopefully) to defret...

I think the 80's retro style is upon us already. With bands like Trivum playing the 80's style basses. I see more and more bassist using ESP's and BC Rich's live. Even the bassist from Hatebreed is using a Jackson and I think he has a signature bass too.

Look at what Warwick is doing, it's a sign of the time. Bring on the Metal!!!!:bassist:

I hate the glam rock of the 80's, but...

Pointy guitars never left the metal scene. Metallica, Slayer, Emperor and about two dozen other bands I can think of just off the top of my head have been using "pointy" guitars all this time.
