I don't know why everyone thinks the burning is due to a dull router bit. It's pretty obvious to me that the devil heated it up to make it burn, Burn, BURN!!!In the mean time, I think it may be time to either sharpen my roundover bit, or get a new one.
I was hoping you'd use standard knobs, with a pitchfork ingraved into the top and a contrasting color.So there was a Craig's list add I saw this morning about this guitar seller who was going to be at a swap meet near by. So I figured I'd stop by. The first thing I saw was a petting zoo, and met an old friend.
The guitar seller had a bunch of Strats, one of them was the lightest guitar I ever held, and a small selections of knobs. I picked up a set.
I may or may not use them, but couldn't resist for a mere $10.00.
It's the kind of bass Marceline might play.Excellent, so it's the nature of the beast, and not my mediocre router technique. At least that will be my rationalization
It was easy enough to sand it out - just a few minutes with 60 grit. That's one of my favorite parts about a build, by the way. That, and sanding the body shape on the drum sander. Something about becoming one with the wood, merging with all the saw dust, and feeling the body take shape in your hands.
Ok, enough new age, hippy stuff. On to the pic.
I was thinking about going to a 3/4" roundover, but I think I may stay with the 1/2". Kind of a retro, semi-slab body vibe. Works with a 60's style bass.
I have to say, I may be liking this devil bass body shape even more than the Ric style body. Maybe because it's new to me, but it's really growing on me.
I'm also thinking of using that goat head graphic laser-etched into a small piece of wood for the truss rod cover. Maybe even shape the bottom along the pickup rout.

I've seen pots with a clear shaft and integrated LED, depending on how the knob is made, drilling a couple holes to get light to the gems could make them light up with one of those.

Since I'm the delicate flower in our house, I already have stated that I'm too weak to scrub the bathroom, so he's been doing it these last 12 years. It was when he saw me going at the neck, he realized that I probably am strong enough to do the scrubbing. Foiled again!
Is it possible to create a cavity under the pickup but above the bridge? Or just a tad to the right? Seems like there is a lot of space there.
