I then flip the neck over and shim the nut end up so that I can use the router sled to cut a taper into the back profile. Next step, spoke shave

I really like working with roasted wood. It's so easy to work with, so light, yet, strong and stable.
My little Ibex is cutting through it like butter. I have to be careful using it as it is easy to get carried away with it

Got some bench time in today
Cut the nut slot and roughed in the nut. Cut the control cavity. Fabbed up the control cavity cover. Worked on the neck profile some more, and not shown, polished out the fingerboard.

Did some more neck profiling. Will probably get the body sanded down to 220 today. I might put a binding on the top.

The plan was to put the binding on today,.......
.......but I got a package,.......
......so I had to clean up the room and install another guitar hanger.

So, then I finally got back to working on the bass, but I didn't have time to complete the binding so I started to detail the neck. Sanding down to 220 and putting in the side dots
and starting the oil sanding process

It's such a beauty... I love the reds and grays mixing together. Very nice job on the build! 
Here's another pic with another coat of TruOil on it.
The thing I really like about TruOil is that it really enhances chatoyance.

‘Struth! The first coat is always a treat for me, and it only gets better with more coats.
It's been a while for this one.
I was unhappy with the binding job I did, so I cut it off and put on new binding. Now in the process of putting on an oil rubbed finish
