Winter Build Off 2020 - Air Space

So looking at the threads, Looks like we'll be getting around 14 completed builds.

That's a 40% increase over past years.

If we do indeed get more completed entries, should I bump the number of votes up to 4?

I've always felt like there should be a separate design award, as well as the win-place-show winners. I'm always torn between what I, as a player, would wanna play & the really clever ways y'all approach the design challenges of each build-off. I guess that would mean a separate thread (can't do two polls in one right?).

2 polls in 1? Yes, that would be a challenge. I have in my head a way that could be done, but would probably be a little more complicated to explain to the masses. Really want to keep it simple

So then with the voting criteria. While I agree it would be great to get the masses to vote on certain specific aspects, be it design, play-a-bility, quality, adherence to the theme, craftsmanship, creativity, and so on, people will vote however they please, no matter how hard we try to socially engineer it. So I think we'll continue as we have in the past is my thought

yeah, based on some of the comments in the polls from years past I think most people just look at the picture and place a vote, so even the fancy words (and videos) don't really mean much when the masses votes.

Hey @Scoops , a technical question regarding the rules.

"Your design must expose at least one air space. (F Hole, or something similar)".

What would be acceptable here regarding size, etc. I know huge is fine, but would a 1/4" wide hole on the back be acceptable as compliant with the rule above? I'll move forward no problem either way - just looking for clarification.

While I believe a 1/4 hole in the back meets the needs of the build off requirements, I would think that you, a respected
colleague, and venerable luthier, past build off contender, creative builder, helpful person, and all around great guy, would be able to resolve the predicament you got yourself into.

My explanation is this. There is an existing knot hole on the back in the upper bout that's about 1/4" diameter. My original plan had an oval shaped port on the side of the upper horn, but then I moved to f-holes in the design, none of which made me happy. The TB hive mind has been helpful as usual but I'm still somewhat undecided. This build will be giggable by next weekend probably barring the air space hole. My question was technical cuz I want to achieve giggability* and have options. This is okay though, as I can work something out.
