Winter Build Off 2022 - Get Ready

So I ordered a set of Hipshot ultralite tuners. I have to say, it was a little difficult to find a 5 string set, and also to find a set with the attributes I wanted. I had to get the "Fender" style clover type as opposed to the "Y" type which I prefer. I started thinking that I won't use the modified headstock that I've used on all other Ric style basses I've built, but instead, I'm now thinking of using the standard headstock style. Seems to fit with that style of tuner.

I almost ordered the set from Best Bass Gear, but they only had 4 of them. I may have one here, so that might have worked, but I'd have to go in search of that one tuner, and I like having a spare on hand. So I ended up getting them from Amazon. Allegedly to arrive early next week.

Sorry for quoting myself, but I absolutely hate the USPS. I get emails every morning from them containing scans of each piece of mail scheduled to arrive that day, and if I'm expecting a package. Well, this morning it said that my tuners would arrive today. But looking at the UPSP website, they are scheduled to arrive Friday. They are currently in Kansas City. Jeez post office, get your sh!t together!

Idiots.

My tuners haven't arrived yet despite being shipped on Saturday from a town I you could hit with a football thrown from my back yard, if your name is Rico.

Stuff shipped from a vendor two states away is always here the next day. Stuff shipped from Hipshot, right next door, takes 4 or 5 days. Same service type selected each time. Doesn't make much sense...

I recently bought an item for my dogs from somewhere I could have walked to and back in a morning. Took 4 weeks and it was a large courier co. not the post. Hystericalvirus is apparently to blame.

I ordered a neck from Gear4music, and yesterday it arrived. Maple with a maple board. Feels nice, balances well, looks good. Trussrod works. The frets are well done, I couldn't find any irregularities.

I've got a wide spaced black 5 string bridge coming for what I think will be my WBO entry, but I learned today that a friend has ordered 5 of these questionable import bridges for me to try out. He was wondering if I could get them to work so that he can use them on a planned build we are going to do together. I've read some threads on these ones around the web and so already have my doubts, but if I can make them hold a string, I might use them on my WBO. If you're wondering, I already recommended he go with Nova headless stuff on his bass. :D

LOL I feel similarly. They've been around at least a couple of years now, but several things prevented me from trying them. In this case my hand is forced, so I'll create a thread about them in Hardware and report to everyone what I find. :D

So, parts build for the WBO? Looks like a good neck for the price. I'm debating doing a parts build with a Fender 51 P-bass MIM that I got. Just gotta' make sure I'm with the theme. Not sure what that was anymore. Someone mentioned it about 15 pages ago. That's 14 pages to much for my memory. :laugh:
