Now I just gotta find socket head cap screws for wood. I think M3-30-35 ish.

...The custom wound kind, with stupid hot magnets. I don't think any off the shelf pickup would function well through 1/8" of wood and about 3/8" of air. Which is the pup to string distance on that bass.
But yeah... it can be done.
I can't take the credit... I'm friends with a Wizard.

Weeks of design & several prototypes later... they work & sound good.
He might be inclined to build another set. But... only if I ask him nicely... (They won't be cheap)

That kinda puts me back on the piezo bridge, which was my original idea.

I believe @Bruce Johnson uses standard machine screws and threads them into the body wood.
… and that is why I’m doing it as well. If it’s good enough for Bruce, it’s good in general, as far as I’m concerned.
Piezos work.
Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely not anti piezo.
I just have no experience with them, never played one, and don't really know what they sound like.
I do like that I can get a pre made acoustic style bridge for under $20.
Sorry if I gave wrong impression. Just trying to reinforce the option. My piezo basses sound pretty much the same as conventional mag pickup basses. I have not fallen into the trap of looking for “acoustic” sound from them. Typical piezo under saddle elements have a flat response from DC up to 100000 Hertz so most any sound can be achieved with proper EQ. Mag pickups have definite limits. Schatten make a simple inexpensive buffer you can use with one of the less expensive bass under saddle piezo. What I pictured for my latest 6 string cost close to $600 so not an inexpensive solution.
Glued the board on yesterday. Should be ready to unwrap today.

Also did the edge contour. I need to do all the shaping after that, as well as touch up some of the funky chipouts that happened. But this is gonna come together nicely.
Not sure which I dread more: doing the radius of the fingerboard (richlite is hard and dusty) or getting covered in the body dust from the angle grinder during body shaping.

Methinks it's carving time. Neck and body both need it. With carving done, finishing can start. Good thing I have very little time, eh?

Though it's all moving along, I'd be lying if I said I didn't feel the pressure. I need to maximize my efforts in the next couple days.
