Winter Build-off 2022 - The Phoenixbacker

Took the neck blank out of the clamps, cleaned it up, and cut in the headstock tiltback.

Made some truss rod routs in the neck:

Of course, it occurs to me now that I probably should have measured how long these truss rods are, and see if I can make this 32" scale without exposing them beyond the fretboard. Well, cutting down the neck is the next step, so I'll have to do a bit of measuring. If I can't make this 32" scale because of the truss rod length, I guess my back up plan is 33.25".

That depends on where I'm working.

Then you're like me.

I have four places I work:
- the attic, where I keep most of my stuff;
- the living room, when I need tablespace for drawings and such;
- the back yard, for anything that creates sawdust;
- the shed if it rains.

I spend a lot of time schlepping things around. A good workshop will replace all of these, but I don't know when. (At one point it looked like it would happen before this build off.)

Uphill to build the bass, then uphill to get back home.

Low 70s, mostly sunny/partly cloudy with a very light breeze and below 50% humidity is perfect working outside weather. We get a day like that maybe once, twice p/year.
64 is about the highest I can get it in the basement work shop since it's been cold outside. And that's opening a vent in the furnace ductwork, closing off the area and running a little electric heater.
