Here it is in inside light.

You can really see the imperfections. I probably should have spent a little more time sanding it. Maybe I'll just cover it with some of that Duratex. That might blend in better for a textured finish.

I was coating a couple of other items with epoxy resin and decided to try to coat the body top as well.

I think it may have improved the finish. I'll check it again tomorrow after it cures.

Are you going to do anything to accentuate the soundholes?

A little white paint around the inside lip could be a really easy way to make em pop (or pink, or whatever light color you like )

I hadn't thought of it, but now that you mention it, maybe a white or pink ring around the interior perimeter.. We'll see.

So it appeared that I missed a couple of spots with the epoxy resin coat yesterday, so I applied a second coat. And that was the last of the hardener, so hopefully, I won't need to do any more epoxy.

So I found some fast hardener and I thought to put a couple more coats of epoxy resin on both the top and back of the bowl. So I mixed it up.

I think it had an air leak or something. It turned dark amber as soon as I stirred it in. Twice. I'll either buy some more, or just go with what I have.

On the up side, it cured in about an hour.

Ok, I admit it, I'm obsessed. So I ran out to West Marine (I had other errands to run as well) and picked up some slow hardener and a set of pumps. And I gave the whole kit and caboodle another coat, top and back.

I sanded the back to take out most of the high spots, and sanded the top to 320. I may be ready to spray on some clear.

I still want to do a little more work on the neck. It's a little bit chunky, so I may wait to spray both pieces at the same time.

I re-profiled the neck. So it's a little bit thinner, a little bit flatter, and a little bit less chunky.

I also fixed up the volute a tad, and sanded the headstock a bit. I think it's ready for some clear, along with the body. It's a little chilly out today, currently 54 degrees at 11:00 AM, which really isn't warm enough to apply the clear, so I'll wait until tomorrow.

I always feel slightly embarrassed with how messy my shop gets while I'm in a project; I like seeing other peoples messy shop's!

Are you spraying the V.U. or other water-based clear? And are you spraying the whole neck including fretboard?
