Winter Build off - Mash Up - Get Ready

I'm sure you can join the Bass VI group, just as long as you guys promise not to try to take over the world......

So, back to this Bass VI thing. I've got everything about my build mapped out (at least in my head) except the bridge.

I don't want to use a standard 6-string bass bridge because I want to keep the narrow guitar-like string spacing of the Bass VI.

The Bass VI uses a floating bridge and tremolo like the Jazzmaster. I can buy one of those (even though I really don't care about tremolo), but will bass-size strings (esp the .084-diameter low E) fit through the holes in the trem part?

I'd really like to use a hardtail Tele bridge, but same problem.

Thoughts?

Maybe I will cross-post this in the Bass VI forum.

Bass VI strings use guitar sized end balls and you can always drill out the Tele bridge if the strings don't fit.

I cross answer you... you could use a Bigsby, or even a fixed bridge and it would do the job.

You could do a tail piece and tunomatic.

A possibility. Maybe just a Dano-like tailpiece where the strings just slip into grooves in an upturned bit of metal. Kinda like this (without the rosewood), with strings going forward into a tune-o-matic

Me? A mad scientist?

So I might happen to own a lime green lab coat...

And heavy black rubber gloves...

And occasionally look a bit disheveled...

And this guy might sorta kinda bear a passing resemblance to me...

But I don't know that that makes me a mad scientist.
As mad as a sackful of ferrets.....
