Winter Build off - Mash Up - Get Ready

somethings wonky

This has happened to me - it appears that nothing is happening when attempting to post so I click "Post Reply" more than once and after a delay - there are multiple identical posts. (easily cleaned up by deleting all but the original!) :) My least favorite tb glitch is when suddenly the type shrinks and the font size choices to fix it are either bigger or smaller...

Ok since we're dropping teases here....

Build 1: Victory-5D Gibson Victory/Fender Dimension mashup, 5 string, MM Pickup, MM Bridge 5 string maple neck, black bound/blocked. Body will be a sandwich of Cherry back, walnut accent layer, quilted maple top, b/w/b pickguard, @Passinwind 's open source preamp.

Build 2: FusionBird Guild S-200/NR T-bird mashup, poplar body, maple neck, FB tbd. 2 Ey Guitars T-bird pickups, 4-string Tune-o-matic style bridge/tailpiece, I'm thinking Lake Placid Blue, headstock TBD.

Build 3: Fenderbird VI -- just what it sounds like. 31" scale maple neck, poplar body based on a tracing of @JIO 's vintage bird. Bass VI bridge/trem 3 P-90's , FB TBD. Painted body.

So are you saying a short scale T-bird bass? Now that is something that hasn't been tried yet. You may create a T-bird that doesn't neck dive. The only T-bird that I think was a medium-scale bass (32") was that one that Suzi Quatto played with the 2x2 hs.

Damn. Guess I'll have to do something else...

OTOH, there should be room for more than one Bass VI variation.

Can the Battle of the Bass VIs be joined as well? Please?

I'm sure you can join the Bass VI group, just as long as you guys promise not to try to take over the world......

Here is my plan:

Total Gibson Mashup. 1. Les Paul Signature; semi hollow body (arched curly maple back, arched spruce or curly top with curly maple steam bent sides). 2. Thunderbird; 9 piece mahogany/walnut neck (through body) with 21 fret ebony fretboard (34"). 3. Dobro; 10 1/2" spider style resonator cone w/ Mississippi Voodoo coverplate. 4. Trini Lopez; Diamond shaped f-hole (one on the treble upper body bout)/split diamond inlays on fretboard. 5. Victory (Yes, Victory! ;)); Headstock (modified). 6. Ripper; neck pickup. EB-0 Bridge pickup (this may change). 7. EB-2; pickguard (too much? :roflmao::roflmao::roflmao:).

I think that will do it... Oh yeah, 8. EB650/750; Translucent Blue finish.

Whew.

I dunno, seems like it could use a bit more Gibson... <ducks for cover>
